About Elmswood Retirement Village (Hospital)
Our Vision is to provide a fulfilling experience of ageing in a home where we care and nurture each other. Our vision is underpinned by our five values Quality, Pride, Integrity, Teamwork and laughter.
When care needs become more complex, our Care Rooms offer round-the-clock nursing in a small, personal setting. With only 25 care rooms, staff and residents know each other well, creating a familiar rhythm and a strong sense of trust. Every room has an ensuite and space for personal touches, so it feels like home. There's no initial purchase needed, just weekly fees, and our team works with Health NZ assessments for those receiving funded care.
While many of our care room residents have lived in other parts of Elmswood, others have come directly from their own homes. Whether you are joining us for the first time or moving into our suites from our apartments or villas, you'll feel right at home. Each of our care rooms offers a calm, private space within a hospital environment. Enjoy the same Elmswood level of service, where care happens quietly in the background and life keeps it rhythm.
Our clinical care offers:
- continuity of care for residents transferring from our Assisted Living apartments
- respite and hospital level care planned around individual needs
- compassionate palliative and end-of-life care
Out team includes experienced nurses and caregivers who know each resident personally, supported by visiting GPs and allied health professionals.
- We're not a standard Christchurch Retirement village, we're a community to call home.
- Full respite and hospital-level care, planned around individual needs.
- Compassionate palliative and end-of-life care
