What is D3 level of care?

Levels of care are essentially types of residential care in New Zealand for older adults.  D3 is an older term that may still be used in parts of the South Island to refer to dementia level of care.

Currently there are four ‘levels of care’ in NZ. They are Rest Home, Hospital, Rest Home Dementia and Psychogeriatric Specialist Hospital Care. The range of needs within these levels can differ widely.
