My chosen rest home hasn't got any vacancies. What can I do?

You can contact the home and ask to go on a waiting list. Start to build a rapport with the home and if possible, give some reasons for why this is your first choice of home. In the meantime, make alternative arrangements with a care home elsewhere. You can move to your first choice of home, when there is a vacancy. Some people find however, that when the time comes, they don’t want to move as they’ve made themselves comfortable where they are.

If you're specifically looking for a standard room, the 10km rule might be able to help. If there isn’t a home with a standard room vacancy within 10 Kilometres, your home of choice must accept you into a premium room and not charge extra fees, until a standard room becomes available.
