If you haven’t heard of Lawrence before, it’s notable for many things – being the first place gold was discovered in New Zealand at Gabriel's Gully and where JJ Woods wrote the music to our National Anthem 149 years ago!
We’re a small retirement village with four spacious luxury homes nestled in the heart of the Lawrence community. Located adjacent to our medical centre and small five-bed rest home, our independent living units are available under an Occupation Right Agreement. We have just completed this home (Unit 1), which has two spacious bedrooms, modern neutral finishes that complement any décor and is fully accessible. It is warm and cosy with double-glazed windows and underfloor heating, and also comes fully fitted with brand-new appliances, so all you need is literally your own furniture and precious things.
You’ll find Lawrence has everything – it is just 1.5 hours from Dunedin and has a welcoming community full of interesting people. It is an easy walking distance to the main street and there are clubs galore if you love gardening, bowls and crafts etc. There’s also a fabulous Aquatic Centre and Gym just 5-mins away and a regular walking group who loves to finish with a good coffee at one of our local cafes. You are always welcome to join in on outings we’ve organised for our rest home residents, which include visits to interesting places around the district, dinners out and even some fun rides in classic cars!
So whether you like to pop your feet up or enjoy getting out and about, come join us, make new friends and enjoy your retirement.
Because we are a community-owned society, we are able to offer these homes at a very affordable price, thanks to the generosity of the many community organisations and people that support us.
This means Unit 1 is available under an ORA for residents aged 75 years and above for just $349,000. Please get in touch with our Village Manager Allana Wallis on 027 354 7597 or 03 485 9050.

Testimonials
Phyllis moved into Unit 3 in July 2022 “Living here has made my life so much easier. The house is very comfortable, warm, and a pleasure to live in. I have my independence, and have great support from the team at Tuapeka Community Health. I am able to garden and have good neighbours,” says Phyllis. Denise moved into Unit 2 in November 2022 “Moving into a retirement village was the best step for me as it's affordable, warm, spacious, safe, and close to all amenities. Downsizing was more manageable, and I still kept my independence - including my own car, garage, sunny courtyard and my own flower garden. I couldn’t be happier with my new home,” says Denise. |

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.
In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
