About Lara Lodge Care Home

Lara Lodge Care Home is somewhat unique having operated in Rotorua for 40 years maintaining the tradition of being family owned and operated. We embrace the fundamentals of the founding vision to offer a holistic quality of care and retain a persons comfort in a friendly, welcoming family style environment.
The size and layout of the home ensures that there is space to maintain shared and individual times with ease. The welcome begins in the colourful garden as you approach the front door and then walk into the central lounge. Here (or in the music or activities lounges) you will often find folk gathered to enjoy shared memories, games, exercises or the listening of a great story.
The enjoyment of art, crafts, music, gardens, food appreciation, health based activities, companionship and conversation is evident and events, special days and individuals are celebrated at Lara Lodge.
Excellence of care is paramount to the dedicated team that work together to ensure that individual needs are taken care of 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in a well maintained, serviced and compliant Home.

Special features

Originally Lara Lodge was set up to create a home for the Elderly that was a "real home". This is the same vision we carry through with today. On arrival, a visitor may be momentarily taken aback as the front outside area looks just like an ordinary home in a lovely neighbourhood. (And we really do have really lovely neighbours!) In fact we are a large residential Home in the circle of the quiet cul-de-sac area of Pegasus Drive.

From the delightful entry, to the comfortable luxury of three lounges, classy dining room and super sized bedrooms the impression is one of large colonial style family home with 'old world' features.

The large north facing deck which is sheltered from the prevailing wind is entered from either the main entrance lounge or West Wing lounge looks out to the delightful grounds that give a colourful display come Spring, Summer and Autumn while Winter sees the Camelias, Cyclamens, Helloborus and Rhododendrons in bloom.

Our bedrooms enjoy a scenic outlook; some have their own private balconies. The most striking impression is the size and the individual style of each room (these are upgraded and redecorated as needed). Most have their own basin/toilet bathroom and the bedroom is spacious enough to have a comfortable recliner which means that residents can feel cosy in the privacy of their own rooms. Added to this each person knows that immediate attention can be obtained by the push of a button away using the call bell system.

A resident's telephone is available for general use in the main lounge. For a small additional cost you may wish for us to arrange your own private phone line and or internet connection.
And of course you may also wish to arrange for Sky installation to be installed on your own Television in your bedroom.

Meals: All are cooked in our kitchen and we have the added benefit of our Resident chef Greg and the kitchen team. who works Baking is regularly done with a variety of yummy delights being produced by competant cooks.

Celebrating events is a part of life at Lara Lodge and we enjoy special occassions together such as Mid-winter Christmas, Easter Sunday, Valentines, Christmas, birthdays, staff achievements.
