This boutique village, with its impressive landscaped grounds and fountains, is within easy reach of a wide selection of local art, music, theatre, cafes, restaurants and bars.

Our elegant, modern apartments look more like a hotel or resort than a retirement village, and provide the independence you are used to with easy access to an extensive range of on-site facilities and social activities.

Warm and friendly staff provide a secure environment and are available 24/7 to ensure you receive the very best of care if you need it. This is life at its best! So, come in and see it for yourself.

A new standard of care is available at The Avenues. Our new care home, which delivers hospital level care in an appealing integrated home-like environment, is an added peace of mind for our residents.

The Avenues provides activities if you want to keep busy, a wellness centre if you want to keep fit and private apartments if you want to take it easy. 24-hour support is available at a button-push if you ever need it. We can arrange services including cleaning, laundry, meals, personal care, professional nursing and wellness checks.

Testimonials
Testimonials
Margaret has been a resident of The Avenues for 10 years and Dick, a former car sales businesses owner, moved in three and a half years ago.

They’re both enthusiastic about the village and its central location in Tenth Avenue.

For Margaret, the tough decision to leave her home and much-loved garden was made easier by the fact that her sister lived at The Avenues and she had visited regularly. “It has made life so much simpler not having to look after a big house and garden. It’s different to living in your own home, but I like it.”

Dick looked at various villages when he was living on his own. “This one was ideal for me. It’s so convenient, everything is within walking distance including a supermarket, cafes, post shop and even McDonalds,” he says with a grin.

Both say it’s still possible to enjoy plenty of privacy with the benefit of added security and peace of mind.

“Apartment living is perfect for people on their own - women in particular,” says Margaret. “And there’s a care person on duty 24/7.”

Able to choose from a multitude of village social and leisure amenities, they maintain active lives outside the village.

Dick is registrar of the Bay of Plenty JP Association and secretary of the Board of Trustees for the Baywide Community Law Service. He is also chairman of the The Avenues Residents’ Association.

Former residents’ committee member, Margaret is a life member of the Matua Garden Club and plays bowls at Greenwood Park Village in Welcome Bay.

“It’s great to be able to enjoy life free of the responsibility of maintaining a home,” says Dick. “And I’m busier now than I was before I retired.”

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
