Life at The Gardens - March 2013 |
The Gardens is a welcoming, modern retirement village offering you independence, community, freedom and security.
With 20 stylish, two-bedroom villas, and 40 one bedroom units, The Gardens Retirement Village is a place to get the most out of life.
As well as a strong sense of community, our residents enjoy long term security, thanks to the future care options at The Gardens Care Home and Hospital next door.
The Gardens is part of the Bupa group of rest homes, hospitals and retirement villages. We are a private company, and because we have no shareholders, we can invest what we earn to make improvements that help us provide better care.
As part of the global Bupa group, we are able to provide superior clinical support, while focusing on helping each of our residents get the most out of each day. Bupa is one of New Zealand’s leading aged care providers.

Testimonials
“Life moves along at an ever increasing pace with the passing of the years and having watched several friends regretting they had not made purposeful arrangements to support their elder years, I decided to take charge of my life to secure a stress-free and supported future. Thus, I moved into The Gardens Retirement Village where I have a bright and modern unit and a lovely garden which I tend myself. In fact, such is my gardening interest that I have been awarded a BUPA best garden prize (and very welcome monetary reward) for two successive years! I have wonderful neighbours and a happy social life here in the Village. That I am also continuing to work part-time and enjoy a healthful, active and independent life is most certainly due to the safe, stress-free and supportive environment which now enriches my elder years. To those think of moving into the Village I say .. Go for it!” - Kay "You hear people say 'old age is sad, time to slow down and smell the roses'. Really!! When we moved into the village, we wondered if we were doing the right thing. We have made wonderful new friends, spoilt for choice with a range of activities in and outside of the village, live independently, with care if we need it and have a barrel full of laughs. Who could ask for more? Was it the right thing to do? You bet it was. No time to smell the roses!" - Sue and Lance "I have been living in The Gardens Village for over ten years. It was one of the best decisions I ever made! My two bedroom villa has a nice garden - just enough to keep me busy! There is a great range of activities which I enjoy. My children call in often and agree this was the best thing I did. Everyone is friendly and we have a great time." - Elaine “I am in a two-bedroom villa at The Gardens Retirement Village. I was pleased that when my husband was alive, we made the decision to move as we found the village provided secure independent living with a range of social activities that we could select to participate in if we so choose. Our children, grandchildren and friends visit regularly and were all supportive of our move to The Gardens. We felt that we moved at the right time to the right place.” – Anne |

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.
In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
