Resthome and hospital-level care will be provided by Ashbury Heights' single-storey, state-of-the-art care centre, which will consist of 61 spacious care suites with private deck areas. The opening of the resthome/hospital and first stage of houses is scheduled for January 2025.

Ashbury Heights will also have a stand-alone single-storey dementia centre with 20 suites, each leading to a private deck and extensive outside gardens.

Its parent company, Qestral, specialises in developing and operating premium retirement villages throughout New Zealand.

A well-resourced corporation, Qestral is known for creating spectacular sites and providing space and innovative design in residential houses and apartments, along with specialised resthome and dementia care centres. The Qestral management team and directorship includes leading participants in the retirement and aged care industry.

Qestral has already established stunning villages in Christchurch (Alpine View, Burlington, and Banbury Park) and overlooking Tasman Bay in Nelson (Coastal View), with a further site situated alongside the Waikato River in Hamilton (Broadwater, soon to commence development).

The Ministry of Health conducts regular audits of Residential Care Facilities. They can be found HERE.

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
