Special features

INTRODUCTION

Woodlands provides Hospital care and Stage 11 care and is required to satisfy the licensing criteria as laid down by the Ministry of Health.

Woodlands contracts to provide care for residents who qualify for the appropriate subsidy. Care standards required authorities provide a benchmark for all rest homes.

Residents at Woodlands are assured of the highest possible standards of care and safety at all times

BACKGROUND

Woodlands first provided care in an elegant country style Rest Home situated in the Manawatu district and located on the Feilding residential - rural boundary.

From the entry on Sherwill St East an avenue driveway through century old trees leads to a woodland style garden of one and a half acres. This is sanctuary to an Edwardian Villa with an interesting history.

Once a well known family homestead in Wanganui, the house was relocated to its present site in 1975. The homestead was restored and became a family home again. In 1981 The homestead was converted to a licensed restaurant and became a popular venue for weddings and receptions. In 1991 The development of a rest home was planned and the adjoining building was added.

The villa with its high tin plate ceilings and spacious rooms provides a grand aura for lounges and dining rooms The new building has been designed with a style in sympathy towards the original villa and provides accommodation with optimum safety and comfort.

The atmosphere at Woodlands is exclusive, the residents respond to the environment with delight. The rest home is elegant, the surroundings are restful and peaceful. There is space and opportunity for privacy both indoors and out, and there are many areas for social time and recreation activities shared with others.

In May 2017 we opened our new facility - entrance 77 Port St East
