About West Harbour Gardens Residential Care

West Harbour Gardens Residential Care logo

Owing its name to the beautiful grounds and greenery around the home, West Harbour Gardens is the perfect choice for great care and convenience in the Waitakere area.

Situated in a modern and developing suburb, West Harbour Gardens not only provides convenience for visitors in the West Auckland area, but also to visitors from Albany and the wider North Shore via the easily accessible motorway connection.

West Harbour Gardens boasts exceptional grounds, in both size and beauty. A central pagoda as well as internal courtyards creates a peaceful setting while still providing plenty of practical space for daily living.

The building itself is purpose-built as a Residential Care home, with three separate wings stemming from a central communal area. Two of the wings sport their own smaller lounge, retaining an intimate feeling to this moderately sized home. A large atrium for dining, activities, celebrations, and community provides a friendly and convenient space for daily living.

Located near the Western Motorway and within a relatively quiet and modern suburb, West Harbour Gardens really is well situated for families to visit their loved one. A stone throw away from Westgate shopping centre, and within 15 minutes of Albany mall, residents and families have easy access to local amenities and friendly cafes. And with local hospitals nearby, there is peace of mind that emergency assistance is close at hand if needed.

We offer a range of comfortable single rooms. All rooms have direct access to outdoor courtyard areas, which is a rare feature in residential care home. Additionally, all rooms are positioned for morning or afternoon sun. Combining these features, our rooms offer superb value.

West Harbour Gardens has a strong community involvement, with visits from nearby schools and community groups, and the local RSA just across the road.

Interests & activities

In a home where many residents live, it’s important to us to celebrate your individuality, make you feel valued, and respect your contributions.

Whether you want to read, paint, enjoy the outdoors, or almost any other thing imaginable, our care focusses on creating an environment where you have both the time and support to do what makes you happy. Our activities program is designed to give you a way to be part of the social life in the home, and also to do what you enjoy.

Activities programs are daily events where staff facilitate activities with residents based on their preferences. On admission, our Activities Coordinator will work with care staff to understand your needs, and incorporate your preferences into the overall activity program.

Our unique activities program is run on a daily basis, and planned a month in advance. This means our residents and families can see what activities we are planning, and even make special requests.

Our activities teams regularly organize mobility vans or other transport to take residents out for special events. Some residents have complex levels of care, making it difficult for them to participate in activities. In these cases, we make every effort to move beds and wheelchairs into communal or outdoor areas, and to do what we can.

Please ask your Clinical Team how we can accommodate your preferences in our activities programs.
