Welcome to The Wood, an Arvida Retirement Village close to the heart of Nelson.
The Wood Retirement Village offers retirement living, security and care in a happy, home-like environment. We have a dedicated team of trained staff, whose focus is on “positive ageing”, ensuring needs are met.
The Wood Retirement Village is centrally located close to the Milton Street shops, parks, gardens and just minutes from Nelson’s CBD. Set in beautifully landscaped gardens you’ll find tastefully designed Villas, Serviced Apartments and Studios, our Rest Home and Hospital.

Lovely modern facility with large rooms and corridors, underfloor heating, gas fireplaces, ensuite rooms.
Gorgeous, tranquil garden settings and courtyards for residents and families to enjoy. Raised garden beds and herb garden.
We have a purpose built activity room that looks out onto the front courtyard and fountain area. Small and large lounges provide a choice of place to rest and relax or socialize with others.
Interests & activities
Activity programme is created in conjunction with the residents and provided by a qualified Diversional Therapist, assisted by Wellness team members. The Wood has a Mini Van for outings and shopping trips. Mystery van rides on a weekly basis. There is an activities room to provide a full range of social activities. Regular entertainers and groups along with a weekly happy hour give residents the choice of a varied programme.

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who 'buy' into a retirement village. If you intend to 'purchase' you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.
In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
