27-31 Shirley Road, Shirley, Christchurch 8013
Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, The Village Palms offers both rest home and hospital-level care in a calm, welcoming setting. It’s a place where you can feel at ease, knowing support is always close by, while still enjoying the everyday moments that matter most.
Our care suites and rooms are thoughtfully designed to give you a sense of comfort, privacy, and space to truly make your own. Each care suite includes a private ensuite and a kitchenette with a fridge and tea-making facilities—so you can enjoy your morning cup of tea just the way you like it.
You’re welcome to bring your favourite furniture and personal touches, helping your space feel familiar from the moment you arrive.
What makes our care suites special:
Support that grows with you
A dual-purpose (swing) bed allows you to move in at rest home level and continue receiving higher levels of care if your needs change, without the
disruption of moving rooms.
Familiar faces, consistent care
The same supportive team and surroundings help you settle in, build relationships, and feel comfortable day to day.
Clarity around costs
Choosing a care suite means more predictable costs, without ongoing changes to premium accommodation charges.
Many of our suites look out onto peaceful courtyards with a fountain creating a gentle, calming outlook that’s easy to enjoy throughout the day.
Come and see it for yourself
The best way to understand how it feels here is to visit. We’d love to show you around, answer your questions, and help you explore whether The Village Palms feels right for you or your family. Get in touch with Tracy today to arrange a time, we’re here to help, every step of the way.

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who 'buy' into a retirement village. If you intend to 'purchase' you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.
In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
