Other Key Information

It's not unusual to want to know more about payments and meals. We also invite you to explore the special features and activities we offer. If you have any other questions, please reach out, we’d love to hear from you!

Details about meals

All meals are home cooked on the premises by professional cooks who have worked in rest homes and hospitals for many years. St Patricks provide two set of meals, one set is European meals and one set is Chinese meals, to cater our culture diversity residents. We have a four week rotating menu for European residents. Chinese meals have been lots more exciting with lots of great work.

Special features

This facility is owner operated and is situated in a quiet no-exit street. It covers about 2/3 acre in the heart of picturesque Epsom. The grounds are park-like with flowers, native trees and seating in shady spots for our residents. Most of St. Patrick's is purpose built while the original villa remains at the front. We are indeed fortunate to be in the heart of the city yet in such a quiet and peaceful street with all amenities close by.

A variety of accomodation is offered at St. Patrick's. Downstair there are Seven motel-like units and four bedrooms in a former owners house (Grandma's Cottage). They fully integrate with the facility and its activities. In addition, St. Patrick's has 47 hospital beds for our less able residents.

As owners/managers we are dedicated to providing the very best of care and we have many testimonials from families of former and current residents. We live within 15 minutes of the facility and we also work as RNs/management. All staff are expected to attend our regular in-service training sessions to keep updating their skills. We often use outside educators for more specialised training. The very highest standard of care and cleanliness is expected at all times by management from staff. We are certified to provide hospital and rest home services. We have well-developed quality assurance systems with regular audits and monitoring to ensure we maintain the very highest of standards.

Interests & activities

Our activity programme, which is co-ordinated by our recreation coordinator who undertaking the Divertional therapist programme, includes all of the following: regular visits from our resident advocate (Vera Gillard), Alzheimer's Society, housie, board games, breakfast in bed, canine friends, cards, children, religion, Communicare, concerts, craft, entertainers from outside, exercises, games, garden, gardening for those so inclined, happy hour with entertainment, jigsaw, massage, movies, newspaper reading, parties, pastoral care, pianist, quizzes, reading, shopping, sing-a-longs, vegetarian, videos. Truly wonderful!!

Activities are available most days of the week but not all residents are able to participate at this level. No resident is excluded and everyone is catered for to suit their needs.

Entertainment in the form of piano and piano accordion is provided on a regular weekly basis. Our happy hour with nibbles, drinks and entertainment is held on the last Friday afternoon of each month at 3 p.m. to which we welcome the inclusion of resident family members.

We endeavour to get our residents off the property from time to time. We have our own 11 passenger minivan which takes regular Twice a week trips. These are a real highlight. We also attempt to visit the movies (The Lido cinema is one block over.), and other places of interest such as SnowPlanet, Butterfy Creek, the beach, St. Lukes mall and outside concerts.
