About Ryman Rowena Jackson Care Centre

Ryman Rowena Jackson Care Centre logo

Across Ryman care centres, you'll find vibrant communities where residents thrive.

Care is at the heart of everything we do at Ryman. Our residents receive exceptional clinical care from our expert teams. Our range of care options include:

• Rest home care
• Hospital care
• Dementia and specialist dementia care.
• Respite care and day care
• Palliative care
• Assisted Living care in your own private apartment.

You can trust that you will receive exceptional care in a Ryman village, and that at all times you be treated with dignity, kindness, and respect. Many of Ryman’s care centres have been awarded 4-year certification by The Ministry of Health. This is considered to be the ‘gold standard’ in care.

For more information on how you can access care options, speak to a Ryman Care Specialist.

As a care centre resident, you'll receive the very best in clinical care, alongside the benefits of living in our friendly community. We create a detailed care plan with you and your family which takes your needs and preferences into account, right down to how you like your cup of tea. Even more special is the welcoming community that makes you feel at home.

Our spacious care rooms and ensuite bathrooms are fitted with call bells with 24/7 monitoring for added security. Our registered nurses and carers are allocated to a group of residents – so where possible, you'll be cared for by familiar faces who get to know you well.

At Ryman, resident wellbeing and creating connected, thriving communities is our priority. We offer daily activities and outings, along with chef-prepared, nutritious meals made fresh on site. The menu offers up to 120 different meals each month, so the same meal won't reappear for four weeks, unless it's back by popular demand!

Nestled in the heart of Waikiwi of Waikiwi, Rowena Jackson Village is nestled amongst beautifully landscaped gardens which creates a peaceful and lush environment for residents. Care residents enjoy access to amenities including a library, café and shop, and a hair and beauty salon.

Ryman has been recognised in the Trusted Brands Awards for 13 years in a row. We’ve won an incredible 11 times and been highly commended twice, reflecting the exceptional care, lifestyle, and amenities across our villages.

Our residents and their families know they can continue to rely on Ryman, year after year.

Details about meals

Breakfast and supper are generally served in residents rooms. All other meals can be served in rooms or in the dining room. The main meal of the day is prepared fresh on site by our dedicated chefs. There are three main course choices, including a vegetarian option. Specific food preferences and cultural or dietary needs can be catered for. All our meals are cooked at the village giving our food a lovely home made touch. Residents can help themselves to tea, coffee and fruit at all times.

Special features

At Ryman, we deliver the highest standard of care with the help of our own custom-made care app, myRyman Care

The app enables nurses and carers to securely record daily care tasks at the bedside, access and update clinical data efficiently, and to spend more time with residents. Our most experienced clinical team members describe myRyman Care as 'magic'.

We've also created our own award-winning model of dementia care, myRyman Life. Through this model, we aim to challenge perspectives on dementia by creating inclusive communities where residents can thrive.

The focus is on experience-based care rather than processes, enabling residents to live in the moment, and to feel kindness, love, and security. Residents are supported to continue doing the things that bring them joy and a sense of fulfilment.

Interests & activities

Our free activities programme, Ryman Engage, is about embracing opportunities and activities that are thoughtfully planned, and age and ability appropriate. Performers and guest speakers are regularly invited to the village to entertain our residents, and relatives often come along to join in the fun.

Some activities include a music programme aimed at stimulating memories and reminiscence, and puzzles and quizzes to encourage mental stimulation.

The key is to provide something for everyone. From arts and crafts, to movies, to outings in the village van, there are many options designed to spark your interest, including Happy Hour, which is a firm favourite with residents.

We also have the Ryman Triple A (Ageless, Active, and Aware) exercise programme which encourages our residents to keep moving. Many of our care residents tell us they've become more active since moving into the village.
