About Monte Vista Residential Care
Endowed with a stunning panorama of Lake Taupo, the mountains and surrounding areas, Monte Vista is the perfect choice for anyone wanting to receive great care in an iconic town.
Monte Vista is the only independent hospital-level care provider in the greater Taupo area not related to a retirement village operator. This means that all our efforts at Monte Vista are focussed solely on providing great care, without compromise or distraction.
As one of the most iconic towns in New Zealand, Taupo provides a quintessentially Kiwi locale for great rest care. Nestled in a quiet suburb (while still being a stone throw away from the town centre), Monte Vista boasts exceptional views of Lake Taupo and Mt Ruapehu, guaranteed to delight residents and families alike.
The building itself provides a perfect interior for great care. Based on an easy layout, wings extend out from a central communal lounge, with all bedrooms conveniently close to it and the dining room. Each wing sports a separate smaller lounge often used as a quiet space, allowing for flexible living options.
Beautiful gardens and grounds around the building perfectly compliment the views, with an easily accessible flow between indoor and outdoor areas. Plenty of spaces for quiet reflection, as well as activities (yes, we admit we do love the occasional hangi), means residents are never left wanting for ways in which to enjoy the fresh Waikato air.
Monte Vista is well-known in the local community for its friendly and family-like atmosphere. Schools and community groups regularly visit and integrate with our residents, with plenty of cultural events and celebrations to entertain, surprise, and delight residents.
We provide a range of single rooms, with options for couples and some en suites available. Many of our light and bright rooms have direct views onto and over the lake..

Interests & activities
In a home where many residents live, it’s important to us to celebrate your individuality, make you feel valued, and respect your contributions.
Whether you want to read, paint, enjoy the outdoors, or almost any other thing imaginable, our care focusses on creating an environment where you have both the time and support to do what makes you happy. Our activities program is designed to give you a way to be part of the social life in the home, and also to do what you enjoy.
Activities programs are daily events staff facilitate with residents based on their preferences. Upon admission, our Activities Coordinator will work with care staff to understand your needs, and incorporate your preferences into the overall activity program.
Our unique activities program is run on a daily basis, and planned a week in advance. This means our residents and families can see what activities we are planning, and even make special requests.
Our activities teams regularly organize mobility vans or other transport to take residents out for special events. Some residents have complex levels of care, making it difficult for them to participate in activities. In these cases, we make every effort to move beds and wheelchairs into communal or outdoor areas, and to do what we can.
Please ask your local Manager about how we can accommodate you preferences in our activities programs.
