About McKenzie HealthCare
Welcome to McKenzie Healthcare, where we provide a compassionate, supportive environment for up to 72 residents in Geraldine. Our Hospital and Palliative Care services are designed for those who require higher levels of medical and nursing support. We offer round-the-clock care, tailored to each resident's unique needs, with a focus on comfort, dignity, and the highest quality of life. Our team of skilled nurses, caregivers, and allied health professionals work closely with local GPs and specialists to ensure that every resident receives the best possible clinical care.
At McKenzie Healthcare, our philosophy is grounded in respect, dignity, and privacy. We are committed to creating a homely environment where residents can feel valued, respected, and at ease. We align with the vision of "Aging Well," empowering older people to maintain their health, stay engaged in their community, and remain connected to their land, Whānau, and loved ones.
Our core values—Compassion, Kindness, Patience, Respect, and Integrity—guide everything we do:
- Compassion: We build relationships based on empathy, understanding, and respect.
- Kindness: We foster positive collaboration and support within our community.
- Patience: We remain calm and composed, even in challenging situations.
- Respect: We honor the dignity, rights, and diverse needs of our residents and staff.
- Integrity: We are open, accountable, and committed to maintaining trust.
What sets McKenzie Healthcare apart is our ability to offer personalized, person-centered care, free from the constraints of large corporate care homes. We involve our residents, staff, and families in the care process, creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for everyone.
At McKenzie Healthcare, we care because it is a home. We care because our people matter. We care because our residents count. We care because our community counts.
Discover the difference at McKenzie Healthcare, where compassionate care and a sense of belonging come together.

At McKenzie Healthcare, our respite care services are designed to offer compassionate, short-term support and peace of mind for both residents and their families. We understand that caregiving is a rewarding yet demanding role, and everyone needs time to rest and recharge. Our respite care allows family caregivers to take that much-needed break, knowing their loved ones are in the best of hands.
For the Resident, respite care provides a fresh environment where they can benefit from the attentive care of our dedicated team. Our highly trained staff ensure that every individual receives personalised care tailored to their unique needs, promoting comfort, recovery, and overall well-being. Whether recovering from surgery, managing chronic health conditions, or simply needing some time to rest, our team is here to help with warmth and kindness.
The social aspect of respite care is another benefit. Residents can engage in activities, interact with others, and enjoy the friendly, welcoming community we offer. They will have access to the same enriching activities and high-quality care as our permanent residents, ensuring that their stay is fulfilling and enjoyable.
For families, respite care offers the reassurance that their loved ones are receiving top-quality care while they take time to tend to other responsibilities, recharge, or even go on a much-deserved holiday. It’s a time to step back, knowing that their loved one is safe, supported, and valued within a compassionate, professional environment.
At McKenzie Healthcare, our respite services are more than just a break from the everyday; they’re a chance for renewal, for both caregivers and residents, all within a community that cares deeply about each individual’s needs.
