About Maygrove Hospital
Maygrove Care, also known as Maygrove Village Hospital is a family-owned aged care hospital located on-site at Maygrove Village. It is a highly reputable 50 bed purpose-built care facility, arranged into private rooms, for elderly residents requiring full-time hospital level care, meeting the NZ Health and Disability Standards.
Residents are cared for by staff and management, who by their best efforts, ensure residents are safe and well cared for. They are treated with respect and dignity and as cherished individuals with unique histories and needs and comfortable during their stay.
The staff, many of whom have a long tenure, form close-knit relationships with both residents and their families. This creates a continuity of care that feels steady, dependable, and deeply personal. Nurses, therapists, and caregivers collaborate daily, sharing insights and building individualized care plans that respect each resident’s preferences, routines, and dignity.
Activities are designed to inspire connection—craft afternoons, gentle exercise classes, cultural events, and memory-friendly programs to name a few.

It's not unusual to want to know more about payments and meals. We also invite you to explore the special features and activities we offer. If you have any other questions, please reach out, we’d love to hear from you!
What's included in your fees and what's not?
Paying for care at Maygrove Village Hospital follows New Zealand's national funding framework, giving residents and families clarity and peace of mind. Some residents may qualify for the Residential Care Subsidy, which is means-tested by Work and Income based on income and assets. Those who do not qualify pay the government-set hospital care rate.
At Maygrove Hospital, all meals and day-to-day care support are included in this base cost. However some additional fees include premium rooms, specialised therapies, personal grooming services or involvement in certain extended activities or outings. We are committed to providing full transparency around fees, and our team is always available to talk through the costs, eligibility, and what's included, ensuring you have all the information needed to make confident, informed decisions.
Details about meals
All meals are individually catered for each resident taking into account their dietary requirements, likes and dislikes. Meals are prepared in the Retirement Village kitchen and are delivered to the hospital for serving to our residents.
