About Lynton Lodge Hospital
We strive for an improved quality of living and our particilar aim is to provide atteentive care that will enhance the medical, psychological, spiritual, cultural, physical and social well being of our patients, so they can live as independent and active a life as possible within personal limitations.
Set in the leafy suburb of Westmere, we are just around the corner from the beach at Cox's Bay and five minutes from the cafes at the Westmere shops. You can often hear the tuis singing in the old pohutakawa tree in the front garden and there is a family of grey warblers to be seen enjoying life in the camellia bush. When you sit on our front verandah you can see the sea and breathe in the coastal air all year round.
We served home cooked, nutritionally approved, fresh, seasonal food and our chef is always very attentive to the special dietary needs of all patients.
The hospital is clean, shiny and bright and visitors often comment on how welcoming and pleasant it is as they step through the door. We strive to maintain a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere whilst ensuring the efficient smooth running of a fresh and up to date hospital environment.
There are pastime and hobby interests every weekday morning and a bus outing to somewhere different in Auckland weekly. Trivia quizzes are well-liked and visitors are always welcome to join in. Pamper sessions are popular with the ladies who love a manicure and nail polish makeover. Assisted cooking demonstrations are good fun when there are pike-lets and savory delicacies to share around.

Interests & activities
Activities are developed within the ability of each patient. Social events, formal parties, festive days and seasonal celebrations are always popular and we endeavour to cover a wide range of cultures and pastimes. An ongoing activity programme is developed by our Diversional Therapist with input from residents and staff. We always welcome ideas and contributions from families and friends.
Group activities include bingo, bowls, movement and music, word games and the very popular trivia quizzes. Residents join in with painting, and art and craft sessions. There are a number of visiting musicians who provide different sorts of entertainment and sometimes the local primary school visit with displays of cultural song and dance.
Visits to clubs, when possible, is encouraged, for instance Stroke Club, cultural clubs, Communicare and the local RSA.
Residents enjoy an outing on the mobility bus each week. We take morning tea and visit somewhere different to take in the view and see another part of Auckland.
