About Kohatu Rest Home

Kohatu Rest Home is a privately owned Aged Residential Care Facility in the heart of Waitara, Kohatu is managed by a registered nurse with many years experience in aged care as both a caregiver and registered nurse.

At Kohatu we offer the very best, compassionate care for the elderly. Our staff will do all we can to make you feel at home, We will assist you to remain as independent as possible and offer support and care when you require it. It is our goal to improve the physical, emotional and spiritual wellness of our residents and that is exactly what we do every day.

We also provide meals on wheels, day care and short term respite. (Please email or phone the facility about this)

We invite you to visit us or phone us any time. We will make you welcome and support you in all your decisions and provide all the information you may need about joining the Kohatu whanau.

What's included in your fees and what's not?

Please talk to Manager about fees. Fees do not include toiletries, hairdresser. We do however subsidise the Podiatrist

Details about meals

A choice of cereals for breakfast as well as porridge and toast, home baking and fresh sandwiches for morning, afternoon teas and supper. Hot meal in the middle of the day including desert and a lighter meal for tea

Special features

Kohatu is surrounded by trees and beautiful gardens - its a picture in the summer.

We grow our own vegies in big barrels close to the kitchen.

Interests & activities

We have a varied activities programme. Swimming is once a week. Entertainment with a variety of musicians is twice a week. Exercises are twice a week. We also have many outings, buggie rides at the park. We have a mens only club and they go on outings once a month
