Welcome to Kapiti Hearing
Kapiti Hearing is a proudly locally owned and independent audiology practice, with clinics in Waikanae and Raumati Beach. As members of Independent Audiologists New Zealand, we have no financial ties to hearing aid manufacturers or corporate chains. This means we can recommend and fit hearing solutions from a wide range of leading brands, ensuring the best option for your individual needs.
Our experienced audiologists provide comprehensive hearing care, including:
Hearing assessments for adults and children
Hearing aid prescription, fitting, servicing, and adjustments
Tinnitus assessment and management
Communication and listening strategies
Hearing loss prevention and rehabilitation
If you already wear hearing aids, we're happy to clean, adjust, and service them—even if they were purchased elsewhere.
Our team includes clinic owners Jeanie Morrison-Low (MNZAS) and Katie Sawaya (MNZAS, AuD), together with audiologist Eloise Koenig (MNZAS). Between us, we bring decades of clinical experience caring for the hearing health of the Kāpiti Coast community. Jeanie, Katie, and Eloise consult from both our Waikanae and Raumati Beach clinics.
We also have two registered nurses who provide ear wax removal using microsuction at our Waikanae clinic every Tuesday and Thursday.
Both clinics are purpose-built, fully equipped, and sound-treated to meet ACC standards. We can also help eligible clients access Health New Zealand (formerly Ministry of Health) hearing aid funding, ACC, and Veterans' Affairs funding.
Clinic Hours
Monday–Friday 9am-5pm
Appointments are recommended. Please call 04 293 4693 or email us to book.
Please note: A sudden hearing loss in one ear is considered a medical emergency. If this occurs, contact us immediately—we will do our best to assess you the same day.
Service Description

Hearing Services
| Status | Details | |
|---|---|---|
| Information about Subsidies | Yes | We can access DSS hearing aid subsidies and other Government funding, such as ACC or Veteran's Affairs for patients who meet the criteria. |
| Diagnostic Hearing Test | Yes | We do full diagnostic hearing tests which cost $110 and take one hour. These may include a referral letter to a specialist. |
| Hearing Aid Trial | Yes | We offer an eight-week hearing aid trial to give you plenty of time to experience the benefits of your new hearing aids in your everyday listening environments. During this period, you'll have several follow-up appointments so your audiologist can fine-tune the settings and ensure your hearing aids are performing optimally for your needs. If, after the trial, you decide the hearing aids are not the right solution for you, we will provide a refund of the cost of the hearing aids. The hearing aid fitting, trial period, and all appointments during the trial are included in the purchase price of your hearing aids. |
| Fitting Fee | Yes | Details of our hearing aid trial and refund policy are provided in your written quotation and are clearly explained before you begin your trial. If you decide not to proceed with the hearing aids after the trial period, the cost of the hearing aids will be refunded. A small failed fitting fee will be retained to cover the professional time and appointments provided during the trial. |
| Mould Fitting Fee | Yes | If the mould is supplied with the aids, there is a payment for the cost of the mould. If you order them separately from the aids, you will need to pay the cost of the moulds, and this will include a small fitting fee if we book time to fit the moulds and reprogram the aids to incorporate the new acoustics. |
| Multiple Brands of Hearing Aids | Yes | As an independent audiology practice, we can fit and service hearing aids from virtually all major brands available in New Zealand. We can also adjust, clean, maintain, and, in many cases, repair your existing hearing aids, regardless of where they were purchased. Because we are not tied to any hearing aid manufacturer or preferred supplier agreements, our recommendations are based solely on your hearing needs, lifestyle, and budget. We believe in providing honest, evidence-based advice. If hearing aids are not the right solution for you, or if you would benefit from waiting, we will tell you. Our goal is to help you make an informed decision that is right for you. Please note that some hearing aids sold through certain retailers may be programmed with manufacturer software restrictions that limit adjustments by independent clinics. Where possible, we are happy to service and adjust these devices, but in some cases the hearing aids may need to be unlocked by the original provider before we can make programming changes. |

The Hidden Signs of Hearing Loss
When people think about hearing loss, they often imagine someone struggling to hear the television or constantly asking others to repeat themselves. While these can certainly be signs, hearing loss often develops so gradually that the first changes are much less obvious. |
