About Jervois Residential Care

We are proud that Jervois Residential Care currently holds 4 year certification from the Ministry of Health, placing it within an elite group of homes independently assessed as providing a very high quality of care. Our residents and families rest assured in our ability to provide superb service.

Situated in the heart of one of New Zealand’s most respected suburbs, Jervois Residential Care provides great care within a quintessentially Victorian villa. Discreetly tucked away close to Ponsonby shopping areas and local amenities, while still remaining perfectly accessible to visitors, Herne bay provides the perfect locale for great residential care in Auckland city.

Situated on large, beautiful grounds, our Jervois home consists of two large villas, gracefully joined together to create one home. Reminiscent of an old world Victorian romance era, many residents easily relate to the design and feel of the home. A series of tasteful refurbishments has complied the building with modern safety standards, while retaining the essential character of the home. Large grounds create a belt of green around the facility, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Because of its location, Jervois is also ideal for family members working in the CBD or ‘over the bridge’, and we welcome family members visiting at the end of their working day. For visitors who are further afield, Jervois lies on easily accessible bus routes, as well as the Waiheke Island ferry routes, making visiting a breeze. Add ample available parking space, and no visit should be any trouble at all.

Inside our home, we have a range of accommodation options to choose from. All our rooms have unique sizes and layouts, many of which showcase original Victorian features. We have accommodation options for couples, as well as en suite options. A range of common areas, ranging from quiet and reflective to active and communal, adds flexibility to life in the home.

Our great location gives us the added benefits of an active volunteering community, and great neighbours who regularly pop in with treats.

Visit us today to see how we can assist you in finding the perfect room in our home.

Interests & activities

In a home where many residents live, it’s important to us to celebrate your individuality, make you feel valued, and respect your contributions.

Whether you want to read, paint, enjoy the outdoors, or almost any other thing imaginable, our care focusses on creating an environment where you have both the time and support to do what makes you happy. Our activities program is designed to give you a way to be part of the social life in the home, and also to do what you enjoy.

Activities programs are daily events staff facilitate with residents based on their preferences. Upon admission, our Activities Coordinator will work with care staff to understand your needs, and incorporate your preferences into the overall activity program.

Our unique activities program is run on a daily basis, and planned a week in advance. This means our residents and families can see what activities we are planning, and even make special requests.

Our activities teams regularly organize mobility vans or other transport to take residents out for special events. Some residents have complex levels of care, making it difficult for them to participate in activities. In these cases, we make every effort to move beds and wheelchairs into communal or outdoor areas, and to do what we can.

Please ask your local Manager about how we can accommodate you preferences in our activities programs.
