About Homesteadcare Ilam

Homesteadcare Ilam is a family-owned 39 bed home dedicated to providing individualised quality care to each resident. Be it day-care, respite or permanent residency, our vision is to provide “personalised care for the whole person,” in a peaceful homelike environment.

Homesteadcare Ilam is a warm and inviting place to call home. We provide a range of care through our resthome and hospital facilities. Every room has a view out to lovely garden areas. Residents can enjoy walking around the gardens or sitting outside in the various sheltered patio or lawn areas.

Many of our skilled staff members have worked at Homesteadcare Ilam for many years which reflects the satisfaction they get out of supporting our residents. We get to know our residents well and place great emphasis on listening to each other, choice, dignity, and respect.

Our dedicated and nurturing team of nurses and care staff are managed by Hamish and Amanda Rose who understand that the gift of time and making the smallest things right can brighten any day.

We would love to talk with you about our facilities and service and what makes us special. Please call Hamish or Amanda Rose on (03) 982 0677 or 021 358 490. We will provide information to help make the best decision for your loved one.

Come visit us today, we know you will want to stay.

Special features

Homesteadcare Ilam is a privately owned resthome and hospital with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere focused on providing a home, not a facility for our Residents.

We have dual purpose beds which enables rest home or hospital level of care - if a rest home Resident's level of care changes to hospital care, they have peace of mind knowing there is no need to move. Our home is fitted with accessibility ramps and safety grab rails, call bells, and smoke detectors with water sprinklers.

Our home is surrounded by large garden areas with a number of terraces and courtyard.

We are just 1km from the beautiful grounds of the Homestead at the University of Canterbury with their wonderful rhododendron display and many lovely walks are available close by.

Interests & activities

Homesteadcare Ilam provides an extensive range of activities and visiting performers designed to keep our residents stimulated. Our Diversional Therapist works to deliver programmes for each individual to promote independence as well as group activities to promote and allow for socialising and engagement.

Our home has a library allowing residents to pursue their own interests. We also have a regular schedule of performers and entertainers visiting.

A sample of activities offered include:
Indoor Bowls, Indoor Games, Exercise Programs, Board Games, Housie, Bingo, Newspaper Reading, Crosswords, Cooking Groups, Gardening Groups, Art & Crafts, Music and Happy Hour.

Regular outings in our wheelchair bus allows for sightseeing or shopping trips.

There is also regular involvement from the community.
