Elderslea sits in a well-established part of Upper Hutt, close to local shops, parks and transport routes, making it easy for families to visit and stay connected. The neighbourhood has a friendly, residential feel, contributing to the calm, homelike environment within the centre.
We provide Rest Home, Hospital, Dementia, Palliative and Respite care, with a team experienced in supporting a wide range of care needs. Respite stays can be for carer support stays or for rehabilitation after an illness or procedure. Our team work to provide comfort, clinical oversight, and assistance with a gentle return to everyday routines. As spaces are limited, please speak with our General Manager directly to see if we can meet your needs and have a room free for the dates you require.

We offer a range of Premium rooms in different sizes, each with varying features to suit your needs and budget. Depending on the room you choose, features may include an ensuite or Jack and Jill bathroom, a pleasant outlook, or outdoor access, helping you feel comfortable and at home.
Our Care Suites offer space, flexibility and extra features. Suitable for either Rest Home or Hospital care, you don’t have to move if your needs change between these levels. All Care Suites come complete with a heat pump and full en-suite bathroom, as well as a kitchenette with a fridge and a kettle – perfect for making a cuppa when friends and family come to visit. You own the right to occupy your Care Suite, so you can personalise it with your favourite furniture and treasured pieces. A Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora assessment is not required for care that is paid for privately.

Standard rooms are large enough for a single bed, a chair and a wardrobe or chest of drawers. The cost of a standard room is included in the Care Services Fee set by the Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora. Premium rooms have additional features such as more space, an ensuite bathroom or outdoor access, but you’ll need to pay an extra amount per day to cover the cost of these premium features.

Details about meals
Our Executive Chef oversees the Kitchen staff. All menus are audited by a dietcian.
Meals are prepared on site and served via bain Maries. Likes, dislikes and allergies are catered for and residents have been very complimentary about the food.

Elderslea has a lovely atmosphere and people are always commenting on it when they enter our facility.
We have wide corridors and some larger than usual rooms.
We have very experienced staff and provide a broad range of education.

If you intend to 'purchase' you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.
In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
