Service Description
| Hello! We are a locally run business owned by Oscar Harper. “I bought the business because I could see how important and enabling a service like Driving Miss Daisy is for the community. Conditions like dementia, or being in a wheelchair shouldn’t hinder an individual's independence”. All our drivers are friendly locals who drive for Miss Daisy because they love the difference they can make in people’s lives. Driving Miss Daisy has a clean and reliable fleet consisting of three regular size cars (2 Honda HRV’s & 1 Kia Niro hybrid), and two wheelchair-accessible vehicles (Volkswagen Caddy). We are similar to a taxi service, but go the ‘Extra Mile’ for our clients. We can assist you in and out of our cars, ensure your children get safely to school, carry your groceries, or even help you check in at the airport or pick you up from the airport. If you require additional assistance our friendly and supportive drivers can attend appointments with you or help you at the supermarket with your shop. We are a pre-booked service, especially at weekends, and preferably 24 hours in advance, however, we will fit in last-minute bookings if we have a car and driver available for you. We are Total Mobility Scheme providers. Total Mobility is a national scheme funded by the Regional Council and the Government. It is a different scheme to that of the CCS Disability Parking permits that you can hang in your car. The scheme subsidises door-to-door transport for people who cannot independently use regular public transport services, all or some of the time. Total Mobility users receive a 65% discount, up to the maximum fare of $45 per trip, on eligible trips including wheelchair-accessible services. Driving Miss Daisy is an ACC Contracted supplier, so if you have been injured and cannot drive, ACC may be able to help organise and contribute towards transport costs. This includes help to and from work, medical appointments, assistance with shopping, or getting the children to school. You can specifically request our reliable service for your injury-related transport. We claim directly from ACC. Phone the ACC Contact Centre on 0800 222 435 ext 12 To enquire about qualifying for the scheme you can phone the local council on: 0800 884 880. Or Age Concern Tauranga on 07 578 2631. Please get in touch with any enquiries. Cheers! Oscar |
