At Driving Miss Daisy we are "family when family can't be there". We are a safe, caring and reliable Companion Driving Service for you, your family and friends. We aim to help you continue doing the things you like to do, attend the activities you enjoy, keep your independence as much as possible and visit people you enjoy spending time with. We will assist you to get to appointments, do your shopping and run errands that you need to complete.
We have eight vehicles in our fleet, including one wheelchair vehicle where people can travel seated in their wheelchair. We operate Monday-Friday from 7am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 4pm but with prior arrangement we may be able provide trips outside of these hours.

| We provide a safe, reliable and friendly companion driving service offering more than just transportation. Our service is an opportunity for you or your family to stay connected to the community and maintain important interests and activities. How does Driving Miss Daisy work? We offer much more than just a transport service - we'll collect you from your door, drive you to your destination and provide whatever help is needed before delivering you safely home again. All drivers are vetted by the NZ Police, first aid trained and hold a Passenger Service Licence with NZ Transport Agency, giving you and your family peace of mind. Driving Miss Daisy is perfect for: * Medical and personal appointments * Grocery or other shopping trips * Social engagements / outings and scenic drives * Airport departures or pickups * Pets to the vet Who uses Driving Miss Daisy? * Older people who want to maintain their independence * People who only drive locally and don't like driving long distances, or down the motorway * People who want to take the stress out of appointments by removing the need to find parking and where they need to go * Organisations who need to transport people to/from weekly activities * People who don't drive How much does Driving Miss Daisy cost? We are considered to be affordable and extremely cost effective. You may wish to take advantage of our Gift Vouchers and we accept Total Mobility Scheme cards for your convenience. Meeting the needs of older people
| We can offer a service (if you choose) to stay with you during medical appointments if you would like someone to be there for you, to support you, take notes, or be an extra pair of ears if you don't hear well. We can accompany you to do your shopping, whether that's around the supermarket to help lift heavier items off the shelves, wheel you around the shops in a wheelchair if you feel unable to walk the distance needed, or generally just be a friend to keep you company. We will gladly help carry the bags inside the house for you if you need us to. If you don't need someone to stay with you then we will happily drop you off for your appointment, to do your shopping, attend your activity or visit your friend/family, and return again at a pre-arranged time to take you home. We have eight vehicles in our fleet which includes a wheelchair vehicle with a ramp for entry into the vehicle, and big windows so you can enjoy the scenery during the trip. It has space for 3-4 other passengers, as well as the passenger in the wheelchair, so your family or friends can travel on outings with you. You are very welcome to take a walker at any time if you use one. Total Mobility cards are accepted in all our vehicles. If you no longer drive or you have a medical condition preventing safe travel on public transport, you can use your Total Mobility card to get the current 65% subsidy on fares (up to a maximum of $46.80 per trip). ACC funded and assisted transport: You can request Driving Miss Daisy for any ACC related transport needs. Contact ACC on 0800 222 435 to arrange your pre-approval which they will send directly to us. Once we have received approval, we can then book your transport and there is no charge to you for your travel. |

If you no longer drive, or have a medical condition preventing safe and easy travel on public transport you may be eligible for a Total Mobility card from Auckland Transport to get the current 65% subsidy on fares. In Auckland it is a green & navy credit-sized card with your photo on it (not to be confused with the mobility parking permit). If you use a walker or walking stick, have very poor eyesight or dementia you would likely be eligible for card.
