While we know reviews can be helpful for some when choosing a place to live, they don't always tell the full story. No one's experience is the same as another - what someone might consider 'five-star' could be a 'one-star' for someone else. In many cases, reviews are written by family or whānau rather than the resident themselves, which can unintentionally paint an incomplete or inaccurate picture. Imagine reviewing a book you’ve never read or recommending a movie you’ve never seen?
In the past, we allowed people to post reviews of retirement villages and rest homes on our website, but this feature was removed in 2020 when Covid-19 restrictions significantly affected how these places operated.
