My family say I need home help. I don't. What can I do?

This situation does put you in a difficult position. Your family will probably be acting with the best intentions. Perhaps they noticed that you are finding some things more difficult these days. Hearing their concerns can threaten your independence and feel quite undermining and scary. While it can be tempting to shrug this off and let things happen as they will, this is not usually the best strategy. Whatever you decide to do, it is likely you will want to retain good family dynamics.

An independent opinion would be useful, so a visit to your doctor telling them about the situation could help clarify things for everyone.  If the doctor feels family concerns may be justified, they can refer you for an assessment so things can be checked out further. Be reassured, there may be solutions to any difficulties you are experiencing that you are not aware of.

Making a plan for the future and taking action before things get away on you or a crisis happens, is a more sustainable strategy than letting things ‘ride’. It also gives you more control over your future and would be reassuring for your family too.
