Find information about getting older

We pride ourselves on being the most trusted online resource for older people and those supporting them to find the information they need to navigate the ageing journey. Yet, we also understand that not everyone wants to, or is able to, access the internet. Which is why The Eldernet Group also produce the Where from here He ara whakamua handbook – commonly referred to as the ‘older person’s bible.’

The Where from here He ara whakamua book is full of essential information including:

  • how to look after your mental and physical wellbeing
  • where to get help at home and how to care for carers
  • why it’s important to set up enduring powers of attorney and make a Will
  • how to access financial assistance and staying safe from scams

It lists all retirement villages and residential care homes in the region and specifies the level of care each one provides (rest home, dementia, psychogeriatric care, and hospital care). The book also highlights home help providers, kaumātua services and day programmes throughout the region.
