| Freedom Companion Drivers is a nationwide service in New Zealand that provides safe, reliable and friendly transport for people who need extra support getting to and from appointments, activities and everyday outings. More than just a taxi, our drivers are carefully selected companions who offer personal assistance, door-to-door service and a reassuring presence throughout the journey. We specialise in helping: > People who who no longer drive > People living with a disability or illness > People recovering from surgery or injury > Children and adults who need supported transport Our services include: > Door-to-door transport to medical appointments, shopping, social events, and more > Help with getting in and out of the car and mobility equipment > Support during appointments or errands, including companionship if needed > Regular scheduled trips or one-off journeys > Total Mobility card acceptance (in most regions) for subsidised travel > ACC and other agency-approved transport |

Meeting the needs of older people

Unlike taxis or ride-shares, Freedom drivers assist with getting in and out of the car, carrying shopping, attending appointments and offering genuine companionship throughout the journey. Services are tailored to individual needs, whether it’s a regular medical visit, a social outing, or a quick trip to the shops—and many drivers are registered for the Total Mobility Scheme, making travel more affordable. Freedom is dedicated to helping older people stay independent, socially connected and confident to get out and about on their own terms. |

| Payment required | Yes | Because all rides are pre-booked, we are able to use an online service to calculate the distance and likely time taken and provide you with an upfront estimate of the cost. Payment is made easy by swiping an EFTPOS card in the vehicle, or paying by cash or on invoice. |
| Subsidy may be available | Yes | Almost all of our drivers accept Total Mobility cards which provide clients with a 50 - 75% discount on rides, depending on the local council area. All our drivers are ACC-registered. |
