Throughout our lives we all want to stay connected with friends and family, maintain our independence and keep doing the things we enjoy. There are many options that enable us to maintain our independence and keep doing the things we enjoy when we no longer drive a car. Many people of all ages get around without using a car for a variety of reasons. Reducing or stopping driving does not need to be a limiting factor that prevents you doing what you want, but it helps to think ahead about your future transport needs. The information provided in this booklet will highlight options for older New Zealanders to remain active and connected. This will include some things to consider about where you live, community and public transport services, recreation activities as well as social outings |

Are you eligible for 75% off of your trips? What is the Total Mobility Scheme? The Total Mobility Scheme provides subsidised travel with Driving Miss Daisy for Bay of Plenty residents who are unable to drive or use public transport. It pays 75% of the cost of a transportation fare (with a limited maximum of $37.50) for those-who qualify to be on the scheme. How can I join the Scheme? If you no longer drive, or sometimes unable to drive to your medical condition, you can apply to the Scheme and are assessed. After you are assessed. A Photo ID Card will be sent to you. You will need to keep this safe and present to the driver each time you travel. What will I save when I Ride with TMS. Let's say for example your total transport costs $24 - present your TMS card and it will only cost you $6. |
We have the companion driving contract for ACC, if you have an injury please request Driving Miss Daisy.
We are transport providers for the Total Mobility Scheme in most regions throughout New Zealand. This is a subsidised transportation scheme administered by local regional councils and the government – ask your local Daisy for more information.
Testimonials
"What a wonderful service in Tauranga North! Used Daisy for a few weeks after using "typical" taxi company who used their car horns to announce their arrival and sat in car. Driving Miss Daisy Tauranga North does not offer the same service. Instead they position the car for your ease of access, get out and assist in any way they can, enjoy a conversation and will patiently wait for you if necessary while you do your errands. Way, way better than normal taxi service" -Barb "The friendly team from Tauranga North have made my transportation struggles of my accident recovery a delight. It's not easy to go from being very independent to not being able to drive. Having reliable transport to and from appointments, help getting in and out of the vehicle and caring drivers have made all the difference." - G Brown. |
