I’m Lorna and I want to say I’m glad to have this opportunity to tell others how much I appreciate the Driving Miss Daisy Service, the symbol for which is a white daisy with a “huge” golden heart, that expresses what it’s all about. Both Jenny (the previous owner) and Delwyn give clients so much love and care, and pay sensitive attention to personal needs. I have found when keeping hospital appointments in particular, this service includes getting a wheelchair and taking me to the department I need to go to. When it is all over the same service is provided in reverse. I must also say charges, are in my opinion, are very reasonable. Delwyn, I have found, goes the “extra mile” in giving added support when needed. She is a good companion and fun to be with. In finishing off I would like to add something I once read in a dictionary - that a Daisy is the choicest flower in the field. Many thanks, Case Co-Ordinator, ACC Frances, from Driving Miss Daisy in Nelson, has transformed the life of my cousin Bruce. She has not only helped with his shopping and medical appointments, she has accompanied him to cafes and galleries, to the countryside for sketching, and even out boating on the harbour. Previously Bruce was a private and reclusive person but he is now extraverted, confident and communicative, and contented with his life. Frances is not just his driver, she is his friend. She has taken an interest in his life that goes well beyond the call of duty, and we can't thank her enough. My father, who is 84 and has lost his licence, could not get by without the wonderful, caring services of Driving Miss Daisy, Havelock North. I just ring them up and they deliver Dad to the hospital or my house or his snooker club. They know him by name and he is very comfortable travelling with them. |
