Radius Care is a New Zealand owned and operated company that specialises in delivering the very best levels of rest home and private hospital care for our elderly population and our young disabled who require special care.

Our vision for Radius is to deliver “good old fashioned Kiwi values and standards” back into the aged care sector and this is a commitment shared by our strong nationwide network of 20 facilities. Each of these facilities share a responsibility to provide the best levels of professional nursing care, which is delivered by our staff to over 1400 residents.

So when the time comes to choose a care facility for yourself or a loved one, call any one of our managers to talk about your circumstances or just drop in for a chat. They will be more than happy to answer any questions you have, and will show you around any one of our facilities.

Radius St Joans is located in the Hamilton residential suburb of Fairfield just 5 minutes walk from town, it provides care for the elderly and young disabled.

Set on three and a half acres of beautiful park like surroundings, St Joans integrates rest home and private hospital with palliative, respite and some young disabled care.

Nurse Practitioner No Currently we are working with a Nurse specialist weekly, residents are referred to her by our Clinical team.

Healthcare Assistants/Caregivers Yes Health care assistants are there to assist with all personal care needs.
Physiotherapist Yes Each resident is assessed by the Physiotherapist on admission and in conjunction with the the Physio-assistant continues with individualised programs 5 days per week. We also promote Thai Chi to all residents as part of our wellness program.
Occupational Therapist Negotiable Residents can be referred to an occupational therapist via our GP service or privately.The cost of the private service is paid by the resident.
Social Worker (on site) Negotiable Residents could be referred to this specialised service via our GP services.
Diversional Therapist Yes Residents could be referred to this service via our GP services
Activities Co-ordinator Yes Every week our team tailors a program to incorporate all the residents. Residents can choose to participate as much or as little as they choose. We encourage family members to remain involve and will often invite them on outings or special occasions.
Hairdresser Yes Hairdressing services are available on request of the resident or family. Our current hairdresser is on site three days per week. Appointments can be made at reception.
Podiatrist Yes A community podiatrist visit the facility every 6 weeks. Appointments can be made via the nursing staff.
Dietitian Yes Residents that presents with weight loss is referred to a dietician. The dietician would visit them on site for an assessment and develop a plan according to the needs of the resident.
Accredited Visitors Yes We are actively involved with the Stroke Foundation, The Federated Women's institute and the RSA.
Kaumatua Yes WE have a Kaumatua that advises us on specific needs of all Maori clients and he is available to meet with families and residents.
Chaplain/Spiritual Advisor Yes We have a inter-denominational Chaplain available on Mondays and Thursdays. The role of the chaplain is to support all residents and their families with any spiritual needs.

May Bring Own Furniture Yes We encourage residents to bring their own furniture and to personalise their bedrooms. We do have to ensure that the bed is suitable to deliver appropriate care.
Single Rooms Yes 39 Hospital level care rooms are single rooms and some does have a semi-en-suite.

Ensuite Yes Our en-suites have a toilet and vanity in plus an extra storage unit. They can accommodate a full sling hoist to assist residents with toileting.

Special Features
The facility has been operational since 1953 and is one of the first rest homes built in Hamilton. The home has a warm, friendly environment. The home is situated on 3acres with open gardens and mobility access to most areas. It is a home away from home.
The home is close to Five Cross Roads and Chartwell. We on the Orbitor bus route.
