When it comes to everyday life, Redroofs makes it easy with rest home, and respite care. The well-appointed rooms all look out onto sheltered courtyards or landscaped gardens and come complete with a 24-hour call system, WiFi and ensuites.

Light, bright and welcoming, Redroofs is set amongst beautifully landscaped gardens, just a hop, skip and jump from the Roslyn shopping centre where you’ll find all the essentials such as a pharmacy. Just a short drive from there and you’re in the Dunedin city centre.

We offer everything from hairdressing to physiotherapy, podiatry and SKY TV. We have a range of recreational activities including board games, happy hour, gardening, crafts, indoor bowls and cooking. Our facility van is also always on hand for outings.

Redroofs is well known and respected in the Dunedin area for providing a home for our residents who, in their later years are no longer able to live in their own home. Care at Redroofs is for the whole person, providing for each individual's physical, mental, emotional, cultural and spiritual needs in the knowledge that each resident is a unique individual with their own life experience and personality. Residents live with dignity and continue to live their own lifestyle as independently as possible.

Residents have provided some of their own thoughts about Redroofs: "Restful, relaxing, retirement, excellent care, everything done, delicious meals, dedicated staff, restful, a refuge for us older folk, outlook (view), outdoor activities, outings, friendship, fellowship, families, safety, spiritual, security. The site provides a convenience shop, paraplegic toilets, spacious showers, and separate dining room and lounge facilities. The facility is fitted with accessibility ramps and safety grab rails, wide corridors, and smoke detectors with water sprinklers.

We are also able to offer respite and carer relief for older people.

Redroofs has an extensive repertoire of activities and events, aimed at keeping the body and mind stimulated. Our Activity Coordinator ensures that there's a range of activities happen each day on an individual and group level which changes on a regular basis. We cater for people's special interests and hobbies.

We provide a library service and we also rent DVDs or videos. Entertainers form a regular part of our programme. A piano is also available in the main lounge.

Here are just some of the activities and interests of residents which arise on a regular basis:

Board Games, Newspaper Reading, Dancing, Parties, Music, Crafts, Movies, Indoor Bowls, Cooking, Crosswords & Quizzes, Gardening, Happy Hour.

There is also active involvement in community events. Outings are an ongoing part of the activities programme and often include stopping somewhere for coffee.
