Hairdresser Yes Vicky our visiting hairdresser who comes every 4 weeks or by appointment. There is also hair saloons in the Winton township.
Podiatrist Yes Amanda our podiatrist visits every 6 weeks or by appointment.

Primary Health Funded Short Term Care Yes Rata Park is available to provide short-term post operative care.
Palliative Care Contract Yes Rata Park Rest Home is able to provide Palliative care under specific contract for non-residents.
Other End of Life/Palliative Care Yes Palliative care is provided for residents who become terminally unwell while they are a resident in our care. This is a decision that is made by the resident, residents family, General Practitioner, Hospice and Darren & Vicky.
Whanau Room No We do not have a dedicated Whanua Room, but we have many quite places for friends and family to talk with our residents and their family.
Rooms (Single) Yes Rooms are able to be self furnished or come furnished. All rooms do have a hospital high/low bed available to aid in mobility if required.
Rooms (Shared) Yes We have 4 shared rooms.
Rooms (Suit Couple) Yes Our shared rooms can accommodate either 2 single beds or 1 double bed to accommodate our couples wishes. The rooms is large enough to also accommodate some personal furniture for a couple.
May Bring Own Furniture Yes Some of our residents have choosen to have only their own furniture and ormanents in their room. Residents rooms are their own to decorate as they wish.(Prior approval required from Darren please).
Alcohol Permitted Yes Residents may keep their alcohol in their own room or in the managers locked cubboard.
Pets In Residence Yes We have a pet goat called Sam, an aviary, a large fish tank, 2 turtles in an indoors outside and are surrounded on our property by sheep (lambs during lambing), an American miniature horse and two dogs.We welcome additions to this collection of animals.
Negotiate To Bring Own Pet Yes New animals are welcomed if house trained and up to date on all vaccinations. Residents animals are cared for at the cost of the resident who owns the animal. Permission for a new animal must be granted by the existing residents and home management.
Phone Access In Own Room Yes A portable phone is available, residents may get a phone line put in to their own room if they wish.

Resident can adjust heating in own room Yes We have a central multi-fuel burner in the lounge and night stores in all rooms that can be adjusted to specific temperatures.

Confused Residents Yes We historically have been able to meet the needs of confused residents. We find our small rest home is conducive to a calm and safe environment for people who suffer confussion.

Outings Yes We have a very active outings calendar, we travel all about Southland in our 24 seater bus.

WE WORK IN OUR RESIDENTS HOME OUR RESIDENTS DO NOT LIVE IN OUR WORKPLACE.
We are a small privately owned rest-home. We pride ourself on superior service and quality care that is affordable. Both Vicky and Darren have vast experience in acute and medical nursing. We en-devour to provide a high level of nursing care on site so the need to transfer is reduced significantly.

Details re Meals Breakfast 08.30 - Porridge,ceral,toast,tea/coffee Morning tea - scone or simlar with tea/coffee Lunch 12.30 - Meat and 3 veg, dessert (hot or cold), cold or hot drink. Afternoon tea - sweet biscuit tea/coffee Evening Meal - 17.30 Soup and toast with a light meal such as savories or samwiches etc, plus cold or hot drink. Supper - Cheese and crackes tea/coffe/milo Staff are always available to make a snack and some residents keep special snacks in our kitchen. We are happy for you to have a small bar fridge in your room if you wish to keep personal food and drink.
Staffing Details We have Registered Nurses, Care Givers (full and part time), a full time cook, all staff help with cleaning as part of their job, part time activities co-coordinator, part time gardener and Darren also helps with the handyman chores.
Fees Details/Fees Do Not Include Fee's do not include meals out, extra personal Dr's consults (seen 3 monthly routinely and as required which is paid for by Rata Park), dentist, non diabetic podiatrist treatment If you are unsure please ask a staff member.
