Description
Melrose Lifestyle Care and Village offers:

- Plenty of space:14 acre grounds
- Rest home and hospital level care on site.(There's a registered nurse on duty 24/7in the hospital.)
- A village shop where goods are sold at cost price
- A FIXED weekly fee that covers costs such as rates, building insurance, grounds maintenance, handyman services
- A Bus Stop right outside the entrance, so it's a quick trip into the city centre or over to the Mount.

The people who live here also enjoy:

- The company of kind and friendly residents – there are 60 villas in total, so someone is always about to have a cuppa and a chat with

- An activities programme organised by four activities staff

- The convenience of having many everyday chores – like lawns,
gardens and general maintenance – all taken care of

Should a person need extra support, they can transfer their existing home care (domiciliary
care) from home to their villa.

In addition, there is a village nurse who can visit on a rota or as required. Plus each villa has a nurse call alarm system to use in the event of an accident or emergency.

And should your health needs change, Melrose has an aged care facility with 39 rest home beds
and 57 hospital beds and a contract with the Bay of Plenty DHB to provide these services.

And we also offer:

- For an additional fee, meals from our kitchen
- At no extra cost, a weekly shopping trip
- Games room, lounges and a library
- Stunning views of the harbour and out towards the Mount

Melrose is part of the Oceania Group, a Retirement Villages Association (“RVA”) member.

Being a member of the RVA means we follow strict standards and guidelines in terms of how we operate.

Testimonials
Here are a few kind words from some of the people who enjoy living at Melrose:

“ The advantage of having rest home and hospital care (on site) played a huge part in our buying”, Ley Quennell

“ They (the staff) give an atmosphere of kindness in action”, Ruth Dalglish

“ I had no knowledge about living in a Retirement Village and was, as a result, rather apprehensive. I have now been here almost 6 years and am more than satisfied with my life here. As a result, I have no intention of leaving Melrose”, James Simcock

“ When helping an existing resident with her garden, we could feel the peace and quiet of the area and became serious about the village and inspecting the villas”, Margaret Pringle

"We would like to take this opportunity to give special thanks to the excellent team at Melrose for the outstanding care of our mother over the 7 years she as been with them and for their frienship to her and her extended family". 11 July 2011

"As I have been a visitor to Melrose for nearly six years, I wish to let you know how very nice I have found many things at your home. It is always lovely and clean, no dust on the furniture and the staff are always very nice. I'm an elderly lady and if the day come I should go into a home, Melrose I would choose." 7/5/2012

"I cannot recomment the Melrose complex enough. The staff at Rosewood are a wonderful, caring, empathetic, passionate group and the care they provide would rival any that is provided elsewhere. All the staff are fantastic. Whilst not aesthetically ideal, Rosewood/Maplewood have a "heart" and as such are far superior to other premises which look "pretty" but don't have the same "love" for the residents. I have recommended Melrose to many" 7/8/11

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet. The DHB Shared Services website provides additional information about this service.
