Description
The luxury Lochlea Lifestyle Resort complex is situated on 6.2 hectares of flat land adjacent to Lochlea Estate, off Racecourse Road. Close to the Allenton Shopping Centre, Ashburton Racecourse and the Ashburton Golf Club, the resort also features many internal recreational facilities.

At Lochlea Lifestyle Resort, we believe that life is for living. Residing in a safe and secure gated community doesn't mean being fenced off from the world. On the contrary, it offers you security so you feel confident to get out and explore the surrounding area. Our residents enjoy companionship and embrace community spirit where neighbours really do look out for each other. This provides peace of mind for them and their families.

A facility centre called Lochlea Lodge is the hub of the resort, providing members with the chance to enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities. Residents have access to a heated swimming pool, spa, gym, hobby/craft room, library, lounge and bar, dining room, pool table, bowling green, petanque piste, and massage room and hair dressing salon.

The resort is only a few minutes’ drive from the town centre and has its own resort bus for group tours and shopping excursions.

We understand the decisions ahead are important and we strive to do our very best to assist you in making the right choice.

Graham and Shona Deaker - Lochlea Lifestyle Resorts first residents: "Moving wasn't an easy decision. We made it with our family, and it has been the best. Our new home is warm, modern, spacious, and everything we need. The secure resort community will allow us to continue living our life in style whilst retaining our independence."

Fleming & Joy Robertson: "Living in North Otago all our lives, shifting was a major decision. After viewing Lochlea and with the support of our family, that decision was easy. Free standing villas, the freedom to maintain our own gardens and the security of a gated community appealed. Our lifestyle goes way beyond our anticipations. Management are welcoming, friendly, enthusiastic and always there when you need them! We are the envy of many visitors. We have no regrets and the rewards are plenty."

Bill & Sandra Grant: "We realised that we had to make a move sometime and it would be better for us to get our things in order rather than leave it for our daughter to do. We are delighted that we decided to move into Lochlea when we did. We both enjoy the facility, the comradery and fun times we have. We have some wonderful outings and we are still able to retain our outside interests. We are able to enjoy our garden and grow our own vegetables. We encourage others to consider this opportunity earlier rather than later."

Peter Brophy: "I was born in Geraldine and lived in Canterbury for 40 years before shifting to Auckland where I lived for a further 40 years. I moved back to Ashburton where I hope to live my next 40 years! For nine years I have toured New Zealand each summer staying mostly in the South Island. During a visit to Ashburton I was told by a friend about the proposed Lochlea Resort and my family and friends living in Canterbury suggested I move back here. I visited over 40 Retirement Villages in my travels and lived in a Retirement Village in Auckland for five years. These village experiences gave me a good insight into what was available and what I should look for in a new village. I wanted good care facilities available when needed but I didn't want to live in a Resthome. Living in a large village with a majority of two and three storey apartments didn't appeal. I wanted to live in a large three bedroom villa with plenty of sunshine surrounded by nice gardens and lawns with friendly neighbours. I only found three villages in all of the South Island that met my requirements. The best of those was Lochlea Resort. Now I'm back home again!"

Murray & Maureen Palmer: "We were quite happy in our two bedroom house and had not considered moving anywhere until we visited friends already living at Lochlea Lifestyle Resort. We saw the great way they were filling in their days, with petanque, croquet, bowls, swimming, social activities like dinners and trips away and spending relaxing time chatting to friends of our own vintage (we're both over 75 years of age). Since moving into Lochlea Resort we have really enjoyed getting to know people and are now enjoying all of the above ourselves. The common comment from people we talk to is 'but we are not ready for this lifestyle'. It is our opinion that we could have been here years ago and enjoyed these facilities for longer. The staff, from the Management to the gardeners, are very flexible, helpful and easy to get along with. The villas are warm, comfortable, well designed and well equipped."

Trevor & Barbara Greasley: When we retired, we lived on a semi-rural property with very little street vision and did not have close contact with neighbours as they were younger and worked. We often drove down Racecourse Road and wished we could afford to live in Lochlea Resort. Believing this wasn't possible but keen to know for sure found us sitting down with the Manager who without any pressure worked with us to make it happen. We're living life now and enjoying every minute of it. The sizes of the villas allowed good choice. They are well designed with flexibility to make minor changes to suit your needs. Living at Lochlea has opened our outlook on life and the residents and staff have become an extension of our family. We have total privacy in our vilola but the groups and facilities that we can be a part of means we are never lonely. Simple acts of kindness happen all the time at Lochlea and collecting the post or paper for a neighbour can often turn into visits and long chats. We feel safe and secure at Lochlea and take comfort in knowing that our children won't have the burden of selling a home on our demise. The only regret we have is not moving in sooner. Barb's confidence has soared since moving into Lochlea and she is doing things now that she would never have dreamed of doing years ago."

Cliff & Diana Dynes: After visiting a friend in Brisbane who had shifted into a lifestyle resort, we were so impressed we came home and paid a deposit on our villa. We have never regretted our decision and life is terrific! The facilities are superb, first class and well used. Our villa is lovely and it felt like home straight away. Tony and Sue go out of their way to make this a very pleasant way to live our retirement."

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
