REST HOME CARE

With views of the western hills, Whangārei Park Village has a peaceful outlook over its own ‘village green’ fringed with beautiful mature trees which are visited by native birds.

Rest Home is staffed with professional registered nurses 24 hours a day, and caregivers who are trained to meet individual, special needs. Whangārei Park Village's own doctor visits regularly. There are several lounges which visitors and residents can use.

Visitors are welcome, and residents are encouraged to make the rooms their own, with personal furniture, pictures, mementos and television sets.

Also on-site we offer Hospital Care, Dementia Care as well as Villas for independent living.

WE CARE
Our aim is to provide a warm and friendly environment. We are staffed with caregivers and other professional staff trained to meet the particular needs of those in their care. Although our doctor visits regularly, some families may prefer to continue to have their own GP.

We want all our residents to have an enjoyable time. Our manager is happy to meet with family members, and respond to any questions or concerns you may have. It is appreciated if you take the time to make an appointment - telephone 438 1099 ext 134.

MAKING PEOPLE FEEL AT HOME
There is open visiting at home in the park and family and friends are always very welcome. To help residents to feel at home, please feel encouraged to bring personal things such as pictures, photographs, a favourite comfy chair and treasured mementos.

AMENITIES
There are many special areas including several lounges. Our restful garden and the park greens give a real country feel to our dementia unit and village as a whole.

HERE FOR OUR RESIDENTS
All diets and appetites are catered for, and family or guests are welcome for lunch at a small charge payable to reception.
Our chaplain is available for residents’ spiritual needs and specific church services are held in the rest home weekly.
Our hairdresser is available for appointments during the week, and the Podiatrist is available every 6 weeks.

ACTIVITIES FOR WELFARE AND ENJOYMENT
Whangārei Park Village offers specialised activities for all resident's enjoyment and well-being. These include;
• reading, crosswords, bingo, games, sing-alongs, arts and crafts
• concerts and movies, gala days and the annual picnic in the park
• outings, shopping trips and walks are also organised by Selwyn staff

KEEPING SAFE
- Valuables. Metlifecare cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged property, and request family to retain these on behalf of residents.
- Fire. Smoke detectors and sprinklers are installed. Our staff have fire evacuation procedures in place – residents are safe in their hands.
- Visitors Book. Relatives and friends are asked to sign the visitor signing in/out book. This is monitored to help ensure the safety of all our residents.

BEING GOOD NEIGHBOURS
We ask people not to smoke within our facility - we have designated areas for smokers.
