About Te Ata
Why choose Te Ata?
1. Excellence in Care
At Te Ata, caring truly is an art. In June 2022, for the second consecutive time, we were awarded the highest certification rating available from the Ministry of Health, achieving a four-year certification period. This reflects our ongoing commitment to quality, safety, and excellence in care.
2. A Boutique, Family-Focused Home
We are a boutique, family-run rest home, not a corporate facility. Our smaller size allows us to provide personalised care in a warm, homely environment where residents are known, valued, and supported as individuals.
3. Trusted Experience
With over 40 years of experience caring for the elderly in the Te Awamutu community, Te Ata has built a strong reputation for compassionate, reliable, and professional care.
4. A Philosophy of Respect and Dignity
“Dishonor not the Aged, as we shall all be numbered among them”
This principle guides everything we do. We believe every resident deserves dignity, respect, and kindness, every day.
5. Nourishing, Traditional Home-Style Meals
Our meals are thoughtfully prepared, drawing on classic recipes familiar to our residents. Good nutrition and enjoyable dining are an important part of daily life at Te Ata.
6. A Positive, Engaging Lifestyle
“We don’t stop laughing because we grow old — we grow old because we stop laughing.”
We foster a lively, welcoming atmosphere with regular activities, social engagement, and plenty of opportunities for enjoyment, connection, and meaningful moments.
- Warm, friendly home where residents are truly known and cared for.
- Calm, relaxed atmosphere with a strong sense of family and belonging.
- Personalised care focused on comfort, dignity and quality of life.

"Dishonour not the Aged as we shall all be numbered among them"
Te Ata offers Advanced Personal Care Services for clients living in their own homes who require more than standard personal care and home help services. This service is designed for clients who may otherwise be approved for rest home level care, enabling them to continue living safely in their own home.
Our key point of difference is the frequency of daily servicing, together with daily oversight, clinical input, and access to a Registered Nurse 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
We visit our clients daily from dawn to dusk, with up to five visits per day, ensuring individual needs are met and safety is maintained at all times.
Each client receives an individualised service plan, allowing them to remain in their own home for as long as possible, safely and with dignity.
