Sandringham House Rest Home provides a home away from home, rest home care for up to 21 residents.

The manager is a registered nurse, and is supported by an amazing team of qualified Healthcare Assistants.

At Sandringham House, we respect residents' individual beliefs and values. Confidentiality is important. We provide a high standard of care in a safe friendly non-judgmental family environment. This is reflected in obtaining a 3 year certification from the Ministry of Health.

We welcome, care for and support our residents to take part in a full and active daily program, while supporting residents to maintain their level of individual independence.

At Sandringham all our meals are dietician approved with a different seasonal menus.

Registered Nurse Yes Our Nurse Manager is an experienced Registered Nurse in aged care with a number of years managing the facility.
Nurse Practitioner Negotiable Otago Hospice Nurse Practitioner s provide their services by visiting residents under their programme.
Healthcare Assistants/Caregivers 30 Yes All our care givers are very experienced and have relevent care giver qualifications as well as first aide certificates. Our care givers work rostered shifts, of 30 to 40 hours each per week.
Physiotherapist Yes Although we do not employ a Physiotherapist, we are more that happy to refer you to one of our local practices.
Social Worker (on site) Yes All our residents are given their own Social Worker (NASC) prior to their admission to Sandringham House Rest Home.
Activities Co-ordinator Yes Our activities Co-Ordinator provides a range of activities during the week, mornings and afternoons. This ensures everyone is catered for. We have a happy hour on a Friday evening. Van rides are something all residents look forward to.
Hairdresser Yes Our hair dresser visits the facility 2 weekly, and when required, so you can always look your best.
Podiatrist Yes Our qualified podiatrist provides a range of services and visits the home 2 monthly, and is only a phone call away in between.
Dietitian No We can refer if you wish, to one of our local practise.

End of Life/Palliative Care Yes This is provided in conjunction with the Otago Hospice, for anyone on the Hospice program. We also offer end of life care for those who require this support.
Wound Care Yes Nurse's and Care Givers are educated in wound care. We have direct contact with, and refer to the wound care Specialist Nurse at Dunedin Hospital.
Diabetic Care Yes We have access to the Diabetic Educator at Oamaru Hospital, as well as Gp practises. All our Care Givers are educated in Diabetes, so are our nurses.
Continence Advice Yes Have access to information and advise from the Southern District Health Board. All our staff attend on going education in this field.
Stomal Therapy Yes We have access to the stomal therapy service at the Southern District Health Board. All our staff are educated to provide Stomal care.
Stroke Rehabilitation Yes We offer support to those requiring after stroke care. we do this in conjunction with other health professionals
Infection Control Yes Infection control is managed by our RN. We have a comprehensive infection Control program in place. All our staff are fully trained in Infection Control.
