Sandringham House Rest Home provides a home away from home, rest home care for up to 21 residents.
The manager is a registered nurse, and is supported by an Enrolled Nurse. Providing 24 hour Registered Nurse cover.
Our nurses are supported by a team of dedicated competent care givers, who have NZQA recognised qualifications.

At Sandringham we respect residents individual beliefs and values. Confidentiality is respected. We provide a high standard of care in a safe friendly non-judgmental family environment. This is reflected in obtaining a 3 year certification from the Ministry of Health.

We welcome, care for and support our residents to take part in a full and active daily program, while supporting residents to maintain a level of individual independence.

At Sandringham all our meals are cooked on site, using local fresh produce.

Registered Nurse 40 Yes Our nurse manager is an experienced registered nurse, in aged care, with a number of years managing the facility. We also have an experienced RN who has an extensive back ground in age care nursing
Enrolled Nurse 20 Yes Our EN is an experienced aged care nurse with an extensive back ground in aged care, also an experienced pharmacy technician, having been in the private and public sector.
Healthcare Assistants/Caregivers 12 Yes All our care givers are very experienced and have care giver qualifications as well as first aide certificates.
Physiotherapist Yes Although we do not employ a Physiotherapist, we are more that happy to refer you.
Social Worker (on site) Yes All our residents are given their own Social Worker prior to their admission to Sandringham House Rest Home.
Activities Co-ordinator Yes Our activities Co-Ordinator provides a range of activities during the week, mornings and afternoons. This ensures everyone is catered for. We have a happy hour on a Friday evening. Van rides are something all residents look forward to.
Hairdresser Yes Our hair dresser visits the facility 2 weekly, and when required, so you can look your best.
Podiatrist Yes Our qualified podiatrist provides a range of services and visits the home monthly.

Oxygen Management Yes We can provide this service for those who have portable oxygen.
End of Life/Palliative Care Yes This is provided in conjunction with the Otago Hospice, for anyone on the Hospice program. We also offer end of life care for those who require this support.
Wound Care Yes Nurse's and care Givers are educated in wound care.
Diabetic Care Yes We have access to the Diabetic Educator at Oamaru Hospital. All our care givers are educated in Diabetes, so are our nurses.
Continence Advice Yes Have access to information and advise from the Otago District Health Board. All our staff attend on going education in this field.
Stomal Therapy Yes We have access to the stomal therapy service at the Distric Health Board. All our staff are educated to provide Stomal care.
Stroke Rehabilitation Yes We offer support to those requiring after stroke care. we do this in conjunction with other health professionals

Details about Meals Our chiefs provide all our home cooked meals, using fresh quality local ingredients cooked on the premises. The menu changes weekly. All have food handling certificates. Our menus are audited by a dietitian.
