Resthaven on Burns Street provides rest home, hospital, respite, dementia and palliative care. Rooms look out onto courtyards or landscaped gardens. Rooms also have 24-hour call system and WiFi.

Resthaven on Burns Street is located near Leamington shopping centre and a short drive from Cambridge town centre.

Special Features
Resthaven on Burns Street offers all the benefits of a care facility, including entertainment, activities and companionship. Our staff all receive training on all aspects of care including the importance of preserving dignity and individual needs. Our aim is to create a happy homely atmosphere, to only employ staff who have a positive friendly attitude and adhere to our mission statement. The site provides a paraplegic toilets, spacious showers, and separate dining room and lounge facilities. The facility is fitted with accessibility ramps and safety grab rails, wide corridors, and smoke detectors with water sprinklers.

Focused on creating a peaceful and relaxing environment, every room in Resthaven on Burns Street has a ranch slider and a garden view. The gardens have plenty of roses and outdoor seating to enjoy them, including a BBQ area. The wings between rest home, memory loss and hospital are also kept completely separate.

Resthaven on Burns Street has an extensive repertoire of activities and events, aimed at keeping the body and mind stimulated. Our Diversional Therapists focus on designing programmes for each individual at all levels of disability, to promote independence and creative expression.

RSA members are regular visitors, we attend Senior Citizen's functions, church/religious services are held on site. Age Concern and Alzheimer's Society, as well as other organizations, are easily accessed through us and we welcome them to our facility.

Entertainers form a regular part of our programme. A piano, pool table and Sky TV is also available in the main lounges.

Here are just some of the activities and interests of residents which arise on a regular basis:

Indoor games, cooking programme on site, regular happy hour, massage, movies, music, newspaper reading, quizzes, crafts, gardening and board games.

There is also active involvement in community events. Outings are an ongoing part of the activities programme and often include stopping somewhere for coffee.

What's included in your fees and what's not Arrangement for payment of fees must be made on admission. The fee does not cover personal items of clothing and toiletries, dentures, glasses, hearing aids, razors, batteries or special items of equipment or specialist medical appointments or x-rays. If residents are eligible for a High Health User Care the resident’s GP will arrange this. Please contact the Manager for full details of fees and process of payment.
Staffing qualifications and details Cambridge Resthaven is well staffed as part of the commitment to quality care. The team includes CEO, GM, Nursing Director, Clinical Nurse Leader, Staff Educator, Registered Nurses, Team Leaders and H.C.A.s. Our team of nurses and caregivers assist residents with all their personal care needs, encouraging our residents to maintain as much independence as possible, in particular we encourage mobility and self care. Our Diversional Therapist and Physiotherapist provide a support and maintenance programme for our residents. Residents may retain the service of their own General Practitioner (GP) Cambridge based. Continuing care (hospital) level of care residents will be seen monthly. Your GP fees are included in the fee. Residents are welcome to ask their GP to visit more often, however this will be at their own expense. Referrals to specialists are arranged as required but any specialist fees are not included in the general expense. Medication is provided and administered as requested by the doctor and if prescribed is included in the fee. Any medications of personal choice or non-subsidized medications will be charged to the individual resident. In general, all medication is administered by the Nurse/HCA on duty, but if requested and agreed by the GP, resident may look after their own medication needs. We ask those who are taking non-prescribed or household remedies to tell the Nurse so that the GP can check for any possible reactions with prescribed medication. Our cleaning is in- house and our dedicated team ensure Resthaven is kept clean and spotless.
Details about meals Catering is provided by CaterPlus. All meals are cooked on site by the CaterPlus team. Our varied menu is approved by the residents and a dietician and we make every effort to provide and meet special requests or needs. For residents with eating or swallowing difficulties we utilize "PureFoods". (PureFoods is a NZ company that provides natural, appetizing food with essential nutrients that are easy to chew, swallow and digest - www.https://thepurefoodco.com). Meal times are flexible and usually are as follows:- Breakfast - any time between 7.30 - 9.30 Lunch - around midday Evening Meal - 5.00pm onward Morning tea, afternoon tea and supper are available
Visitor information Visitors are always welcome. However, we do ask for Infection Control and Health & Safety that all visitors pre-arrange their visit, preferably 9.30am - 11.30am and 2.30pm - 3.30pm. There are tea/coffee making facilities for visitors. If residents would like family members to join them for a meal this can be arranged with the staff on duty. There is a small charge for meals - please ask at reception
