Ranfurly is an award winning care facility. In October 2014, Ranfurly was the winner of two excellence in care awards, from the New Zealand Aged Care Association. Ranfurly won the “Excellence in Food Award” and also the supreme “Overall Excellence in Aged Care Award”.

Our staff give excellent care in an environment that is built around a resident centred hospitality model. Nothing is too much trouble for our staff. Residents live in beautiful surroundings that support individuality, personal choice and independence.

We serve restaurant quality food that is prepared daily by our Executive Chef. The residents are provided with a range of delicious menu options and chose their own meals on tablets that are loaded with our tantalising pictorial menus.

Residents enjoy frequents outings in our brand new Mercedes Van. You may have seen Ranfurly residents enjoying coffee in a café, or at the theatre, or the Ellerslie races, or even in the park feeding the ducks.

Ranfurly was the winner of the NZACA Excellence in Care Award 2014. All our rooms are single with shared facilities. Our residents spend most of the day in the lounge or in the garden with frequent input from caregivers and activities coordinators. Our food is of restaurant quality.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to be able to assist with an outing to the Ellerslie Races with some of the Ranfurly residents.
I would like to pass on observations/comments to those that organised this excellent day out.

We had an amazing viewpoint for the racing and residents did not have far to walk to place a bet. People enjoyed a meal along with a beverage whilst soaking up the atmosphere. I engaged with people who talked about their time at the races in years gone by and noting the differences of today. I would like to say that one resident expressed to me that "this has been one of the best outings I have been on".
The genuine enthusiasm from all was palpable, so much so that people did not wish to return as per the schedule.
Laughter that was enjoyed by all was for me the highlight of the day, please pass on my thanks to Anastasiya/Savitri for a well planned and thoroughly enjoyable day and I look forward to being of assistance anytime in the future.

Special Features
Ranfurly Hospital and Veterans Home opened in 2013 and offers care in tasteful surroundings. The resident can chose to enjoy the intimacy of the small lounges or join in the communal activities happening in the main lounge.

Our residents choose their own meal options from an extensive menu designed by our own Executive Chef. The residents make their meal selections using a tablet that displays the wide range of meal options available to them

Interests & Activities
We offer an individualised activity program that caters for the needs of all our residents. The program is supported by an Occupational Therapist and offers a range of choices for the residents to choose to become involved in.

We regularly have visiting entertainers and run a number of activities throughout the week. Ranfurly residents are often seen out and about in our specially fitted Mercedes bus which was generously donated to us by the Ranfurly Trust.

The programme is delivered by our Diversional Therapist and our Activities Co-ordinator.
