The Opunake Districts Rest Home Trust, in partnership with Residents and their families, provide a Resident centred service for elderly people within their community that promotes independence and quality of life. We endeavour to ensure the provision of a service that is comprehensive, multidisciplinary, values driven, appropriate, and safe. The Cottage is well known for it's caring and friendly staff; cosy, homely character building, and fresh home baking.

Interests & Activities
The Cottage offers a comprehensive activity programme that combines individual needs with group activities.
Our Activities Coordinator and staff work with Residents to put together a set of enjoyable activities that encourage physical, mental, and social participation, as well as maintaining contact with local community groups, and support agencies. We enjoy good support from Alzheimer's Society,Arthritis Society,Parkinson's Society,and the local Friendship Club. We are also fortunate to have wonderful community support for our Volunteer Programmes, who provide entertainment, wheelchair pushing for trips to town, and our volunteer Pastoral Carers work with local clergy to ensure any concerns Residents may have are resolved successfully.

Details re Meals The Cottage specialises in good quality home style meals, and home baking, using an audited, accredited Dietitian menu and recipes that Residents have shown preference for, using locally grown produce.
Staffing Details We are fully staffed with experienced,caring professionals who are all First Aid certificated. They are local and they fully support this facility with tremendous loyalty.
Fees Details/Fees Do Not Include Our fees are set by the Ministry of Health and are as per our contract with them. Private paying residents pay the same rate and receive the same excellent service
