About Moana House & Village
Moana House & Village is a warm, caring and supportive home in Whangamatā, offering rest home and hospital-level care in a peaceful setting. Established by the community and still operating as a charitable trust, Moana House has strong local roots and a homely, supportive feel.
Set on generous grounds, our gardens are an important part of daily life here. Residents can enjoy outdoor spaces, garden views, gentle walks and the pleasure of being close to nature, while still having access to care, activities and community connection.
We provide rest home, hospital, palliative, primary and continuing care, with supported living options also available on site.

REST HOME: There are 27 single rooms of which 12 are dual purpose. Small lounges in each wing create a private space and gardens around the home bring pleasure to residents.
HOSPITAL: There are 20 single rooms, some with ensuites and usual facilities. *Ensuite charges apply to these rooms.
Five one bedroomed apartments have been built in the James Watt Wing. There were previously 10 Rest home beds in this area. With the changing face of services, people entering the facility are not as independent as in former years. The serviced apartment concept is what the public want for independent but supported living. The apartments are now certified for Rest home care.
We currently have three internal apartments for sale under ORA.

What's included in your fees and what's not?
Rates as set by the DHB which are usually updated in July of each year. Please contact management for a list of charges.
Details about meals
Breakfast in room or dining room if desired. Usually the other meals are in the dining room unless the person is unwell. Main meal is at mid day
Special features
Quality Residential and Community services offering a continuum of care. Moana House has functioned well for over 48 years with significant community input, especially in the area of resident activities. Although it is a little way from the beach we try to get the residents out to enjoy activities of the area when we can. Please feel free to contact us at any time if you would like anymore information.
Interests & activities
We have a very active group of residents and who enjoy a wide variety of arts and crafts. Daily motivational programme including exercises for the active and not so active residents. Activity Co-ordinators arranges an interesting programme of trips and daily outings. We have both a mini bus with lift and a car to accommodate most needs for outings. Weekly Church services.
Activities comprise of meet and greet, morning exercises, trivia and quiz games, crafts and games afternoon, cards (five hundred), Housie, Mahjong or as residents desire. Resident pianist, music, outside entertainers.
Weekly Garden Club activity for enthusiasts.

We also provide meals on wheels to the Whangamata community.
