Named after one of New Zealand's female pilot pioneers, the Jane Winstone Retirement Village in the heart of Wanganui, provides a full range of lifestyle options for the elderly.

Located in Oakland Avenue, the village is within walking distance of the beautiful Virginia Lake Reserve and features stunning resort style facilities including an all weather bowling green, indoor heated swimming pool, spa, hair salon, gym, library and so much more.

The modern design concept together with friendly, caring staff and a fun, varied activities programme, allows residents to enjoy the very best of retirement living.

Our Resthome rooms all have their own private ensuite bathroom. TVs with Freeview provided in each room. Variety of room location, some north facing sunny and others with views of garden courtyard. Fully furnished or residents are able to provide some pieces of their own furniture.

Registered Nurse Yes Our resthome has a full time registered nurse dedicated to this area, as well as a highly skilled Clinical Manager, Sue Buchanan, who overviews the clinical care of all residents in the resthome.
Enrolled Nurse Yes Two Enrolled Nurses.
Healthcare Assistants/Caregivers Yes As much as possible, the same caregivers will care for you each shift so they will get to know you well. All our caregivers are supported to undertake training in care of the older person.
Physiotherapist Negotiable There is a physiotherapist who visits our facililty regularly and will review residents as required.

Activities Co-ordinator Yes We have a dedicated Activities Coordinator in the resthome who works 5 days per week and delivers a wide range of activities for the resident to participate in should they wish.

The Jane Winstone Retirement Village is a purpose built Village which aims to exceed expectations and satisfy the unique requirements of all our residents.

The Resthome rooms are spacious and warm with a television and ensuite for residents to enjoy.

There are qualified staff on hand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week which guarantees peace of mind.

The village offers fantastic services including housekeeping, delicious meals, maintenance, fresh towels delivered daily, and other services to cater for individual requirements.

Full time activity co-ordinators ensure there is always entertainment, outings, guest speakers, groups and clubs, happy hour, and all sorts of activity to keep residents entertained on a weekly basis.

Respite care, and day care options are available for those residents who may require professional, short term care for a variety of reasons, (eg.post-operation care, family/caregivers going on holiday).

Ryman have now introduced a new initiative of providing Resthome Level care in our Serviced Apartments. Please contact the village for information.

Details re Meals The Village employs a fantastic chef and kitchen team. The menus are rotated on a 4 weekly basis with different meals served every day, offering delicious 2 (and 3 course meals on special occasions). There are also alternative meal options available at every meal offering sugar free, vegetarian and protein alternatives. Our chef achieves an extremely high level of satisfaction from residents and strives to keep the menu varied, healthy and delicious.

Shops 0.50 km A short walk away we have a small shopping centre which has a dairy, chemist, fish and chip shop and hairdresser.
Mall 1.00 km The Wanganui town centre is 1km away and has a range of shops and cafes.
Parks 0.30 km Virginia Lake is a lovely reserve close by which has walks, gardens and wildlife including ducklings at the right time of year.
