Wilson Carlile Village offers Hospital Care, Rest Home, and Respite Care - all set in beautifully kept grounds at 562 Grey Street, Hamilton East, not far from Memorial Park and the magnificent Waikato River.

Located within 1.5kms of Hamilton East Shopping, Medical Centre and Churches, there is also a pharmacy, café and convenience shopping within easy walking distance.

Our Rest Home has several lounges and a spacious activities room. All bedrooms are single, the majority having ensuites. Our aim is to provide a warm and friendly homely environment. Caregivers and other staff are trained to meet the particular needs of those in their care.

Wilson Carlile Village provides a varied, interesting and meaningful activities programme, planned by our Diversional Therapist who is assisted by an Activities Coordinator and volunteers. (Diversional Therapy involves designing programmes to meet the needs of the people. The aim is to reassure or stimulate our residents and day care people, while at the same time enabling them to maintain as much independence, dignity and self-esteem as possible.)

Although our doctor visits regularly, some residents may prefer to have their own GP call on them as required.
We want all our people to have an enjoyable time. Our Care Manager is happy to meet with you, and to talk over any concerns you may have. It is appreciated if you take the time to make an appointment.

This is your home and you are free to come and go as you please. There is open visiting at Wilson Carlile Village - your family and friends are always made very welcome.

Our convenience store opens weekly to cater for your basic shopping needs. (Staff will buy in special items at your request).
Wilson Carlile Village has its own library and chapel on site.

All diets and appetites are catered for. You are also welcome to have family or a guest for lunch at a small charge payable to reception.
Church services are open to residents, friends and family of all denominations. Our chaplain is available for your spiritual needs.

People participating in the Activities programme have the opportunity to make new friendships as they join with our Residents in the numerous activities which are provided for the enjoyment and well-being of our people. These may include . . .
- Daily exercises, Cooking and preserving, Newspaper and poetry reading, Storytelling, Quizzes and intellectual afternoons, Housie, cards and board games, Long bowls, Music, choir and sing-a-long sessions, Arts and crafts, Regular mini-bus trips and outings – as seats are available, Spiritual Services in our Chapel, Frequent visits from entertainers and concert parties, Interaction with other Rest Homes, Television, ‘Happy Hours’, Birthday and other Celebrations.

Special Features
Special Features
Wilson Carlile House is a 59 bed stage 2 Resthome along with Hospital level care that provides an inviting family atmosphere.

Although set in the heart of Hamilton East with shops very handy for our residents, our facility offers a quiet tranquil atmosphere in part due to the well cared for and secluded gardens.

Our home provides single rooms, where residents may retain a number of personal items, such as pictures, photographs, television, telephone etc. (television and stereo equipment is also available in the lounge).

In addition to this facility, The Selwyn Foundation is pleased to announce that it intends to acquire the Sunningdale RSA Veterans Rest Home and Retirement Housing complex in Hamilton. From 1 April 2010, the Foundation will assume management of the facility’s administration processes and general operations, with a view to finalising the acquisition on completion of a due diligence process later this year.
