We invite you to experience the very special character of Tasman Dementia Care. You will discover a team with exceptional qualities and a home with a unique atmosphere.

OUR VISION
To accept all people with kindness and love
To provide peace, comfort and joy
To be proactive, innovative and courageous
To enrich each person, the community and the world

OUR VALUES
We strive to achieve this vision by working with openness, honesty, integrity and passion

THE WORK WE DO
We establish trusting relationships based on respect and acceptance.
We encourage people’s participation in companionship-based care in their small homes.
We are privileged to accompany people as they journey towards the end of their life.
We welcome family/whānau and the wider community as integral to people’s lives.
We promote inclusion and the rights and values of each person.
We celebrate unity in diversity.

We specialise in person-centred care for people who live with dementia. This is the work we have passionately chosen to do. We care for people in small, cosy homes with a loving, warm and homely atmosphere where each person is supported to experience each moment richly. Our small homes concept means that people with dementia experience life in a less clinical and more normalised, familiar way. Small homes that inter connect, also bring a sense of ‘community’ for a person with dementia.

We offer 24 hour Registered Nurse coverage to all of our residents at Tasman.

Testimonials
Testimonials
We would not hesitate to recommend the Tasman Care and Dementia Centre for any patient needing dementia care and we will be forever grateful for their care of our Dad, Douglas, especially as his health deteriorated.

We could not have wished for a safer and kinder environment. We always felt that Dad was cared for in a way that maintained his dignity.

Immediately you walk in the door, you feel the comfortable warm atmosphere. The smiles on the faces of all the staff makes you realise that this place has a happy, caring and loving environment.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Sumy and Soumy and to each and every staff member who came into contact with our Dad. You are all so wonderful.

Our paths may have crossed
For just 6 months
But we'll be carrying
The gratitude for a lifetime

Roz Redpath

To all the wonderful staff at Tasman.

We just wanted you all to know how much our family appreciated the outstanding care you gave my mum throughout her stay with you. You were, without exception, calm, kind and warm-hearted toward her at all times. That she was able to smile and laugh with us right up to her last days is a tribute to all of you and to the ‘best friends’ and ‘small homes’ concept being implemented by DementiaCare NZ. We will always remain grateful that we chose Tasman to care for Mum after she could no longer stay at home

We extend to you all our warmest regards and grateful thanks
Sue & John, Michael, Carolyn and the rest of the family
We have found Tasman Rest Home and dementia Care to be the best place for our Mum. The Carers and Nurses take great care to make sure that Mum gets what she needs.

It’s never easy losing your Mum to dementia, but we are happy in the knowledge that she is being well cared for an Tasman. Any time we have concerns, we voice them and they listen, take it on board and try their hardest to make sure Mum is happy and comfortable.

They take time to get to know Mum and what her signs and signals mean and do their best to understand what she wants.

No ‘home’ is ever going to be perfect at this time of life, but all the Carers, Nurses and other staff at Tasman really do their very best to make Mum feel at home. They truly do care about Mum.

I have no hesitation in writing my impressions of having my partner in care at Tasman Rest Home.

Prior to his being a full time resident ten months ago, he had spent time in several other facilities in the Nelson/Richmond region, having respite care. This enabled us to make a decision on which we felt would give him the best care. I had no hesitation in choosing Tasman, & have no regrets.

The caliber of nurturing & care is excellent. I visit regularly and have observed this culture. The effort made to encourage the special needs of residents impresses me, even allowing my partners beloved dog to visit.

As his condition has deteriorated there have been regular updates and inclusion with all decisions made. I am made to feel welcome at all times, and they have coped with the recent shut down restrictions with understanding of the residents needs as well as friends and families. It has not been easy for those who did not understand why they were separated from loved ones. Tasman Rest Home were very tolerant and understanding of this need. Physical care is also excellent, and the hygiene standards very thorough

It gives me great pleasure to say how impressed I am with the care and attention given at Tasman Rest Home.

The compassionate care given by you all supported Cushla so hugely on her challenging pathway.

The fundamentals of care always provided but also to be acknowledged are the special pursuits given to enhance her quality of life.

Cushla's love for music was encouraged and enabled with singing and karaoke.

Cushla always manicured and painted her nails, and she paid great attention to her hair styling. It touched the family how staff continued to pay loving attention to this.

These are just the examples of how you expressed her individuality, and supported Cushla to remain the person she was.

We had to walk a very challenging pathway with Cushla and we thank you and recognise you as her 'end of life' family for embracing her with aroha.
