Registered Nurse Yes 2 RN staff are on duty 7-11pm and 1RN is on duty 11pm - 7am. The Clinical and Care Home Manager are both RN's and are "on call" for staff at all times. All Nursing staff are skilled in aged care providing a very knowledgeable workforce.
Nurse Practitioner No We have access to nurse practitioners versed in aged care and aged care -mental health, from the local DHB. They provide education as required for our Nursing staff and are available for consultation for specific residents.
Enrolled Nurse No Currently we do not have any enrolled nurses on our team.
Healthcare Assistants/Caregivers Yes Our great bunch of caregivers work under the direction of the RN's, they are experienced in aged care & passionate about providing the best personalised care possible. Our team all have the opportunity to obtain up to Level 4 Health and Wellbeing.
Physiotherapist Yes Weekly visits and as required by a licensed physiotherapist occur on site.
Occupational Therapist Yes As required
Social Worker (on site) No But if required are arranged through the DHB.
Diversional Therapist Yes We are very proud to have a qualified DT who works full time Her programmes incorporate daily activities of interest to residents and some one on one activities for residents who prefer more personalised needs.
Activities Co-ordinator Yes One part time staff supports our DT to run the activity programme from Monday to Saturday We are very proud of the activities team who provide stimulating activities and outings for our residents. Our dressup days are legendary!
Hairdresser Yes Bev visits 3 days per week and has been doing so for many years now. She often brings Charlie her dachshund with her. Wayne from Wainui is the Barber who visits monthly and is well known to many residents prior to admission.
Podiatrist Yes Jenny Cousins Visits monthly or as required for residents and is referred to her by the nursing staff. She offers a highly skilled service and has her own practice in the community.
Dietitian Yes All our menus are carefully constructed to ensure they met the best nutritional intake needs for our residents. If needed we have access to the DHB dietitian for oversight of any personalised residents needs.
Accredited Visitors Yes As required and arranged on an individual basis
Kaumatua Yes As required and arranged on an individual basis
Chaplain/Spiritual Advisor Yes We cater for many spiritual needs and are happy to speak to you about your requirements. We have a small on site chapel which holds services of varying denominations.
Other Personnel Yes An Independent Advocate is available for our residents if needed. Our facility General practitioner visits twice per week and is available via phone. We have a very wide range of entertainers who visit including pet therapy!

May Bring Own Furniture Yes All furniture provided but small items may be brought in eg. Armchair, television.Domestic beds are not suitable so we prefer people dont bring those.
Single Rooms Yes All rooms are single and have a toilet and wash basin ensuite.

Alcohol Permitted Yes Happy hour every Wednesday afternoon is part of the recreation programme.Individual requirements can be met at the residents cost.

Semi-Secure Yes All exit doors are locked after 5.30 pm.and the grounds are patroled by a security firm.Our facility has lots of exits that residents may choose to leave by so we are unable to take people who may be at risk of absconding.

Two Recreation staff on site provide extensive programme from Monday through to Saturday. This includes exercise programme, bowls, musical entertainment, cards, scrabble, computer experience, art, cooking, craft, music, drama, bingo, quiz, crosswords, van outings, monthly newsletter, seasonal festivities etc.

Individual as well as group activities are catered for and families and friends are welcome to come and help or participate

Details about Meals All meals cooked on a 6 weekly rotating menu. Residents offered a selection of meal options and home baking. Individual tastes can be accommodated as can specific dietary needs.Family are welcome to purchase meals.
Staffing Qualifications and Details Residents are allocated a Primary Nurse on admission.This is the Registered nurse that plans their care and will do this in consultation with the family if the resident wishes.Staffing levels are monitored daily to ensure we have sufficient staff to provide care
Associated Complexes The Masonic Villages Trust has retirement villages in Horowhenua, Wairarapa, Palmerston North and Foxton providing retirement housing, resthome and hospital level care
