Provide End of Life/Palliative Care Yes End of life care is provided by a skilled care team to support resident dignity, and provide compassionate care for family and friends. Our small chapel can be booked for celebrations of a loved ones life and to farewell them in an intimate and special way.
Outings Yes Papakura Oaks residents enjoy frequent outings in our comfortable and well equipped van. These outings are reported in our monthly newsletter and are always a talking point with residents and families. In winter we take soup and nibbles and in summer we take packed lunch and picnic if we are able.
Whānau Room Yes Each household has an overnight room with a fold down double bed. Bathrooms are in close proximity. Comfortable chairs.
Māori Kaupapa Yes Care is individualised to meet resident needs. Whanau are welcomed into the household and expected to participate in the life of the resident as they wouldat home. Our facilities are flexible and can be utilised for celebrations and whanau events in consultation with our management team. The Selwyn Foundation kaumatua is available and related iwi are welcome to participate in residents care programmes.

What's included in your fees and what's not As all of our rooms are premium rooms (ensuites) there is a small additional charge which is not subsidised. External providers such as podiatry, hair dressing are paid for by the resident.
Staffing qualifications and details The weekly menu is drafted by our catering provider. The meal preparation and kitchen management is over seen by Dinu, our qualified chef.
Details about meals Each household has its own kitchen as well we have the main kitchen on the ground floor. Meals are prepared by the main kitchen on site and delivered to the households. also - Residents and families are able to prepare their own meals at any time using the household kitchen facilities. Care staff assist residents with their meals as required. Residents have an option to eat in their rooms and are encouraged to eat at the large shared dining table in the shared dining room. Mealtime has cultural significance for many people and it an opportunity for interaction with other residents, staff and families and helps to combat the loneliness associated with advancing age.
Associated Complexes We have a restaurant and a café on the ground floor which can be booked by families and residents for small functions. Visitors can also purchase a meal on request with the chef. NOTE: Cafe open Wednesday - Sunday, limited hours

Public Transport 1.00 Km Stagecoach bus services stop nearby on. the Great South Road. The train station is about 3 kilometres away at Papakura.
Mall 3.00 Km Papakura Oaks Village is an equal distance from two shopping centres at Papakura and Takinini respectively.
Parks 3.00 Km Beautiful nature walks run past the village around the shores of the Manukau Harbour . The botanical gardens in Manurewa are not far away. Hunua falls is a lovely spot to visit in the summer and there are many beaches and regional parks to the east of the facility.
Library We have a small library with internet available on the computer on our ground floor. The library is well-utilised by the residents.
