Reviews
Given the current COVID-19 environment we have temporarily disabled our ‘feedback’ feature. We apologise for any inconvenience.

While Kandahar Home is able to support people with memory loss and early dementia symptoms, our sister site, Kandahar Court, offers specialist dementia care in a secure environment.
Enliven’s Kandahar Court has spark. This home is more than bricks and mortar; it’s a place of connection, compassion and understanding. We understand the experience of dementia can be distressing. At Kandahar Court staff are specially trained in supporting people with dementia and their family and friends.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Kandahar Home and Court, like all Enliven Central homes, embraces an elder directed model of care called the Eden Alternative.
This means we work to ensure the elders of Kandahar Home and Court have companionship, variety and spontaneity, fun, meaningful activity and purpose in their lives. It ensures that elders are involved in decisions that relate to both their personal well being and what happens at their home.
Here, residents are supported to maintain their independence and routines, and to continue with hobbies, interests and passions, in a way that’s right for the individual.
OUR PEOPLE
Our staff are not only highly trained, they’re also friendly, caring and embrace our elder-directed philosophy of care. Our nurses are on-duty 24-hours-a-day and the doctor also visits regularly. We are in regular contact with residents to ensure all clinical needs are met.
SERVICES
Enliven’s Kandahar Home and Court offer rest home, dementia and hospital level care services, as well as short term respite, health recovery care and an engaging day programme. At Kandahar Court we offer a range of dementia services, including specialist residential dementia care, short-term respite, a day guest programme and advice and support for families and friends.
FAMILY AND FRIENDS
As an Enliven home we’re proud to be more than just ‘family friendly’. At Kandahar Home and Court, your family is part of our family. After all, family, friends and the community play a big part in life here.
At Kandahar Home and Court, you’ll find there are no set visiting times; you can invite your grandchildren, family and friends to visit at any time. Plus we have a great toy box and games to keep the little ones entertained!
You may like to invite family or friends to join in the special events and social outings organised by Kandahar Home and Court. And of course, family and friends are always welcome to join you for a meal.

Testimonials
There are many reasons why people enjoy living at Enliven’s Kandahar Home. We asked some of the residents that live there what they like the most about their home. “It’s wonderful here. There’s no pressure; it has a relaxed atmosphere right through and the staff are wonderful. Everything is taken care of.” – Glennys. “This place is so homely - it doesn’t remind me of a rest home, and the staff are what makes it home here.” – Laurie. “At Kandahar all my medical needs are taken care of and they don’t make me feel like a patient.” – Keith. “There are activities happening every day and I’ve made a lot of friends – there are some real characters living here.” – Kath. “There’s always someone to talk to so I never get lonely. I’ve got people around me all the time if I want, but I can be by myself when I want as well.” – Barbara. “Kandahar is in town but it’s a rural area. I can still see the horses in the paddock next door when I look out my window. It’s home here.” – Hazel. |
