The Holly Lea Care Centre prioritises a holistic approach to dementia care, offering upscale and personalised services up to hospital level. One notable aspect is its specialised memory support unit, designed to cater specifically to the needs of residents with dementia.
The care suites are meticulously designed with a residential feel, aiming to create a homely and private space for each resident. Features such as private ensuite bathrooms and custom cabinetry for personal treasures add to the comfort and sense of familiarity.
In terms of entertainment and engagement, the inclusion of a 55-inch television in each suite and innovative tools like the Tovertafel (magic table) speaks to the commitment to enhancing residents' quality of life. The Tovertafel encourages interaction and engagement through animated lights, stimulating residents' senses and promoting social interaction.
Moreover, the presence of the Wellness Nordic Relaxation Chair further demonstrates the centre's dedication to providing unique and calming sensory experiences. This chair combines music, tactile stimulation, and rocking motion to offer residents a soothing and multi-sensory experience, which can be particularly beneficial for those with dementia.
Overall, the Holly Lea Care Centre appears to prioritise not only the physical care of its residents but also their emotional well-being and quality of life, especially for those living with dementia.

Testimonials
My husband has been in care since he arrived at Holly Lea Village three years ago and as his care needs have increased he has not had to move from his studio apartment. He has syringomyelia – a cyst inside the spinal cord, which means he is confined to an electric wheelchair due to his lack of mobility. His studio apartment means he has a lot more room to move around in than a typical “hospital room” at other villages. Individual care is available wherever you live in the complex, all the buildings are linked and the same staff are available wherever you are. Being able to access the whole complex and participate in activities with all village residents rather than just those in the “hospital wing” improves his quality of life and mental health immensely as he is able to participate on a daily basis with able bodied residents. This creates a real family atmosphere where everyone is equal in spite of their situation and makes for a very caring environment. Having visited many hospital/villages before deciding on Holly Lea I found nowhere that offered the same level of care and support in the environment that Holly Lea offers. Holly Lea provides outstanding care with wonderful facilities and staff and as we now all live in an “inclusive” society it is to be hoped the very successful Holly Lea model will be used in other villages. |
